So Project X Zone 2 was mentioned as one of Namco Bandai's upcoming games in an Italian article that went up too early and was later removed:

The highlighted game, Saints Seya Soldiers' Soul, was announced after the article was taken down, so it sounds like Project X Zone 2 is coming as well for the 3DS. Apparently Namco Bando held a press conference at an event in Italy, which is where this comes from.

Namco Bando
No but in all seriousness I'm pretty excited for this. With the upcoming Worlds Unite crossover (or as I just like to call it, Sega VS Capcom), it seems like a pretty convenient time for another X Zone. I just hope they put in more recognizable Sega characters, like come on. The guy from Die Hard Arcade? Really?

Heard you talkin' shit about Bruno Delinger?
-
Whono Dalingerer? Never heard of him.
-
Heard that the 1st game wasnt too good so i skipped that. Hope this makes up for it
-
it was great in terms and fan-service and the gameplay itself was pretty good. The problem was the length, some stages took waaay to long to complete and often times got boring.
-
No but in all seriousness...
...You know what, not gonna fix that typo.
-
I had a really good time with the first game.
It was a bit long, but the battle system was fun, and the game didn't ever take itself too seriously.
Really can't wait to play through the sequel.
-
I loved that the original got the special edition box treatment, even if it was just a soundtrack and poster. Game itself had fun fan-service and was good for a single playthrough. Looking forward to the sequel and hope it gets a US release.

Yakuza characters are in, strangely enough the Yakuza: Dead Souls versions of the characters. Also Shinobi and Strider in the same team.
-
HOTSUMA, STRIDER AND THE FRIGGIN KAGE_MARU!!!!
Give me a thousand copies right now!!!
-
Screenshots are up on the front page. Also: WUT. Why the hell did htey pick the PS2 Shinobi and Yakuza of the Dead?
-
Mother of god at shinobi and yakuza representation. My di..... my heart
-
That's three teams confirmed per publisher so far
Sega
Yakuza: Kiryu and Majima
Sakura Wars: Ichiro Ohgami and Erica
Virtua Fighter: Akira and Kage (huh?)
Bamco:
Tales of Vesperia: Yuri and Flynn
Tekken: Jin and Kazuya (wut, don't they want to kill each other or something)
.hack: Kite and Haseo
Capcom:
Resident Evil: Chris and Jill
Devil May Cry: Dante and Vergil
Mega Man X: X and Zero
Support:
Leon
There are also three ninjas from each publisher that I'm not entirely sure about.
Shinobi: Hotsuma
Strider: Strider Hiryu
Soul Calibur: Natsu
But I think the first two are teamed?

PS2 Shinobi seems to have a following in Japan. There's a stage in Dengeki Bunko too.
Yakuza of the Dead, perhaps to give Kazuma and Majima interaction with Resident Evil and Devil May Cry characters and more "supernatural awareness".

Hotsuma is my favourite design, really cool Ninja. Even though Shinobi 3 is the best in the series.
-
Maybe the Yakuza team wanted a non-canon part of the series to crossover so as to not confuse things?

it's come to my attention that dante was in the first game too so this joke doesn't work as well

Yea, much easier to have them fight zombies rather than street gangs as odd as that sounds for the Yakuza series in general...I'd still want Akiyama as an Assist unit. I'm curious as to who else is coming back, I'm hoping a Valkryia Chronicles rep is kept in.

I'm just glad they are ignoring Donte.

But someone at Bandai Namco still made the joke:

i can't even believe this right now.....

I'm pretty sure they'll keep Valkyria Chronicles representation in...as a franchise. It would be hella weird if they just erased VC. IMO the question is whether or not they stick with VC3 or go with Welkin/Alicia. If they're keen on worldwide audiences ("A TRIBUTE TO GAMERS WORLDWIDE" or w/e the trailer said) they may just go with VC1.
Anyway, beyond that I hope to see
Bayonetta team
Skies team
Phantasy Star team
-
I'd hope the Western release of the first game impacts the selections for the cast this time out. Like, I'd love to see Beat and Gum or Ryo and Ren teams.
-
Someone explain the Dante joke to me?
-
It's from a Shin Megumi Tensei Nocturn/Lucifer's call cover (I think it was in Europe-only, not sure if the NA box art had it):

I see, thanks!

Yakuza x Residen Evil team up confirmed:

Would anyone have preferred Yoshimitsu as the Namco ninja instead? Anyway, neat to see that the devs are taking the feedback on the gameplay from fans in mind while making this game.
-
Just read that Axel stone is confirmed

Tomokazu Sugita is voicing Axel? Also neat that Phoenix and Maya are showing up.
-
The SEGA representation in the 1st game wasnt that great imo. It was easy to skip for me after hearing not so many great things about the gameplay. I heard stuff like, it was a bit shallow and didnt require a lot of tactic. Also the game dragged on too long and the mechanics didnt keep it interesting for all that time. I think so far its gotten to a point for me that im glad the the SEGA representation alone. Any improvement on the flaws from previous games is only bonus

Alex Kidd and Altered Beast spotted with Ulala!

And there is Opa-opa and Space Harrier too I believe.

They were in the last game though, I think he is just pointing out the new additions.
-
So Felicia's in after all. I was a bit surprised she wasn't in the first since she shows up in crossovers almost as much as Morrigan.
-
Sweet. Ryo is gonna be a playable character, hope he meets Kiryu.
Sega and Capcom have such a strong cast in this game, it's not even funny. What's funny is how I much don't care about Namco's cast in the slightest.
-
Really happy to see Ryo in the game, because that means cutscenes and something to hold me over until 2017 or whenever Shenmue 3 releases.
Here's hoping Ryo is in a paired unit, I'd love to see Ren as well. Or Joy, since female characters are always a plus. Shenhua would be cool, but I don't think we have ever seen her fight and we don't know how she fights. Wonder if some of that Dragonball Z magic hinted at in Shenmue Online will seep into the game?
-
Interest level just skyrocketted to 100. Someone actually give me the 1st game recently, so soon i will see what it's all about
-
Im sure someone has asked this before, but has sega ever mentioned why Sonic is not in this series? X is there after all.

Cause Monolith Soft has a ground rule where they keep overly cartoony characters to a minimum and even when the rare one pops out, they're background characters.
And really, it's a breath of fresh air that Sonic isn't around. The more underrated Sega characters appear, the better.
-
I kind of wish that Sonic, Pac Man and original Mega Man played sort of mythic roles. Like appearing as statues or things of legend or in the shadows like Mickey in Kingdom Hearts. Spokesman = Gods

That doesn't really work out with the Namco crossover games, I think. They're not as much mystic as they are more practical with their elements. Mostly alternate dimension pseudo-sci fi dickery and they leave it at that.

I mean, that's fine but the choices are still odd. Why resonance of fate > phantasy star for example. Or skies of arcadia.

Because they live on earth.
The PXZ story's happened on earth.

Because when you have a big ass roster in a crossover game, there's always someone who's going to want something other people don't. So someone is always going to say the roster is odd while others say the roster is awesome. Look at Smash 4, fucking Megaman, Pacman, Mario and Sonic in the same game and people still say the roster disappointing because their furry waifu or purple dinosaur boss didn't make the cut.
Anyway, I hope this sells so they can keep this up.

But it would be so sweet if Dr. Eggman was involved with the story.
