As for me, it's always no longer be the Sonic series I grew up with after 1999.
I grew up with Mega Drive Sonic, Archie Sonic, and DIC Sonic.
Dreamcast Sonic and what's happened after that was when I already in college.

I don't mind any change to Sonic since they've got to attract new fans anyway.
They can't always rely just to old Sonic fans.
As long as the change is just meant  to attract Gen Z-A, not just because of DEI pressure or just to please some loud and vocal influencers on Twitter.
Both of my sons are Gen Z-A and while they still love playing Mega Drive Sonic games they don't like Archie Sonic and DIC Sonic.
They aren't from my generations so I understand that.
The change from Classic-era ot Dreamcast-era of Sonic lore I accepted because these changes had little impact on the lore.

So what it's no longer set on Mobius, that just means it's set on Earth all along and the characters are relatively the same.

What I'm against is Amy Rose personality being tweaked to the point she is out of character.
I'm against characters simply coming back to life for marketable appeal.

She's more out of character in the early Archie Sonic comics so I think the change's still not the worst.
Disappointing but it still could be worse.

Archie Sonic I never regarded canon to the main continuity so of course they're allowed to tweak the characters in those comics.

But lots of fans grew up with the Sonic games. But n ow, it feels like Sonic Team are disregarding the older veteran fans for the younger, marketable fans.

So I finally watched the dialogue that's changed in the birthday party, but I don't think it's that bad.
Sonic feels kinder towards Amy now instead being bothered by how Amy shows her obsessive love.
At least in this one I think the change is more in Sonic than in Amy.

But still of course I prefer if they didn't change anything at all.
Make me remember how Capcom changed Balrog's ending in Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival from this happy ending

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Umdy5cVM9ME

into this bad ending.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6GwcDaDpSg

That was really annoying.
He used to be my favorite SF character but not anymore after Revival.

Yeah, now that I've seen the changes with Amy in SXSG, I see I made a fuss about hardly anything. I mean I prefer they just left the cutscenes and dialogue as they were, but still they didn't neuter Amy's love for Sonic entirely.

Yep, both Amy and Maria is safe ... for now.

Still who knows what's happened in the Sonic 3 movie.
Gerald and Maria could still be different than in the game version.
