Title: So about this Make war not love thing
Post by: Mariano on February 16, 2016, 03:51:57 pm

Here is the link whit all the info:

http://www.makewarnotlove.com/results.php

Many people dont know what this is, basically is a way from SEGA to advertise their games. They make the fanbase from COH2, TW Attila and DOW2 play each games non stop and the fanbase that play the most get free DLC fo his game.

There are also some free games here and there to compensate the people who have being playing a lot, but of course everybody can download them. The free games now are "Golden axe", "hell yeah", and "Jet set radio". next week i think, will be "streets of rage 2", "Binary domain", and "condemned".

Just for the record SEGA has advertise this event for twitter and youtube.

Thank you Sega!  I still need a controller for JSR, I cannot imagine the QTE playable on a keyboard...
Hell Yeah comes with its DLC btw.

I actually have all these games, but I don't have any of the DLC for Hell Yeah. I couldn't get the DLC for free though. Is anyone else able to get just the DLC or is that only for people who don't already own Hell Yeah?

Yeah I have everything too. Tho tomorrow is Binary Domain. Might install it now that everyone has it to play 4 player co-op with the SEGA BROS.

Is SegaBits gonna host a multiplayer night for Binary Domain? I'd be there.

I was condsidering it if people want to play. i wonder if Barry would want to join. We can do some versus, but last time I played with some forum members I got destroyed.

That wave mode in Binary Domain is IMPOSSIBLE to beat, I swear.

Some really cool giveaways... I already have a couple of 'em but some, like Binary Domain, I haven't played yet.

I know it's not a popular game online, so it's hard to get people together. I've actually never been able to find an online match in that game, so I haven't experienced it once.

Yeah, had to gather people to get a match going. When it launched I did try it online on PS3, literally where all Japanese people destroying me. Felt... great lol

This makes me want to get a Steam console.  I just run Macs at home.

Add the games on your library, though I recommend building a PC instead of getting a steam console. All graphic cards have HDMI out and you can install SteamOS only if you want (tho its linux, so ... probably not good idea)

You can't dual boot?

I own an iMac and I have my drive partitioned with Windows 7. I can't run every graphics heavy game, but most of my Steam library plays. Plus, even if I can't play games, I add them during promos like this so I have them for the future.

I was sharing the Jet Set Radio bundle with a bunch of friends until I realized...I had already either convinced all my friends to buy it or bought copies of it for them. Whoops. Still got the bundle myself for Hell Yeah! and Golden Axe, the latter I'll probably never play, and the former I now have a reason to care about.

Definitely jumping on the bundle tomorrow though. A whole mess of games I've never played but wanted to is a thumbs-up from me.

I'll do Binary Domain multiplayer for sure if it's happening.

I only managed ONE session once on 360's launch. It was fantastic.

Sweet, I never actually bought JSR on Steam.

I got every other Sega game in Steam that I'm interested in, though. Except the ones that Sega hasn't released, of course.

But this is the kind of shit Sega should play around in other platforms, not just Steam. But it's pretty cool, fan engagement and everything. Good on them, especially cause they're giving me free shit.

Other platforms probably make it difficult for companies to do this sort of stuff. Steam has always seemed very easy for interesting promotions and discounts.

Binary Domain, Condemned and Streets of Rage 2 are now available free on the website for steam ;)

Next up, Gunstar Heroes, Renagade Ops and Vikings.

Hah! I love stories where parents think that could actually happen.

Whenever I've heard them, I question the logic behind it. They soon realise how dumb what they said was.

I'm 24, have a job, am getting married in a month....and I still get shit for playing Counter Strike, Skyrim or Halo or ... whatever I play really.

Funny thing is my father was always supportive of me playing games up to the point where he thought it would turn me into a criminal ahah

I'm sure that Future will happen, but I don't think them giving it away means anything. They did the same on PSN years ago. With that logic would we be getting a new Binary Domain and/or new Hell Yeah! game?

Facts are fans didn't show up and buy it, thats why we never got Future.

I would love to play it again

JSRF's birthday is literally like less than a week away. And JSR's 15th anniversary was last year, so...

Hey, maybe, y'know! Never discredit what you don't know. But don't hold your breath on what you don't know either.

(I would rather get Shenmue HD before JSRF HD tho)

But hey, my collection grows stronger...

Down at the bottom of the Steam window is a little button that says "+ ADD A GAME...". Click on it and you'll get a menu. From there, click on Activate a Product on Steam. Then, when the box comes up, paste in the code, and just click okay until the menu goes away. Afterwards, check your library and it should all be there!

Renegade Ops is awesome, if like me you like arcade style games... Realllllllly needs a controller to play though since it's designed as a twin stick shooter.

By some miracle, I managed to install Renegade Ops and Binary Domain. Haven't played Binary yet, but Renegade Ops is freakin' sweet! It's hard as hell and I love that it's unabashedly over-the-top but it's not driven into the ground. The controls kinda suck though...a car just doesn't perform nearly as well as a person does in a twin-stick. I find myself getting stuck and taking hits I was trying to avoid very frequently. But what the hell, no one told me I could play as Gordon Freeman in the goddamn jalopy summoning antlions up out of the ground. It's only a matter of time before Portal somehow crossovers with a SEGA property...

Just a note if you've never played Binary Domain on PC, getting the controller to work on it is a right pain. You're suppose to open the config setup and change it to what you want. It doesn't work. As soon as you close the config setup, it'll forget it once you start the game. Here's my strange, but it works method.

UNPLUG the controller
Start the config file and PLUG the controller in.
Set it to the controller and whatever other settings you want.
Save and quit
UNPLUG the controller
Start up the game and wait till the title screen shows
PLUG the controller in
It will work, but doesn't always map correctly. If that's the case, simply unplug and plug in the controller till it does. It usually works after 2 attempts.

Thoughts on Binary Domain so far:

-This game controls super weirdly and I can't say I'm a huge fan. The sprint button being the same as the 'take cover' button is something I will probably never get used to. The aiming feels floaty (on mouse and keyboard here with sensitivity turned down), the weapon setup is not at all to my liking, and i had to rebind some pretty standard actions to their standard buttons (having to rebind reload to 'R' is probably not a good thing). It doesn't help that the button prompts can get confusing. The button to open the voice command menus is 'Tab' but the prompt looks like nothing on my keyboard. And the reason I had to rebind reload in the first place is because the tutorial told me to press 'M'. It meant the mouse. And even then, it mean to click the mouse wheel. That is the single most confusing button prompt I've ever seen (doesn't help that it looked exactly like a keyboard prompt.)

-This game is stupid as HELL. I have respect for any game that is so dedicated to being dumb, that when you and your partner get caught, he decides it's a good time to sit around and have a real-time tutorial all while under fire from enemies. The dialogue is stupid, the animations are stupid (good lord the blind fire animations had me in stitches), the humor is stupid, so far it's just enjoyably ridiculous and I love it.

-Can't tell if I'm a fan of the voice gimmick. I don't use a mic bc I don't have one right now, but they seem to really want me to use this thing. Bringing up Tab to issue commands is a little cumbersome, so I wonder if using the mic is actually better. I'm very interested to know what commands it takes; does it only take the commands listed by tab, or will synonyms do? What if you just say 'fuck' into the mic, will that have an effect?

-Wasn't a fan of the 'don't shoot your troops or else they won't trust you' thing as soon as I heard about. In every game I play with a companion, there's always points where they just decide to walk in front of me while I'm shooting, and Binary Domain is no different. It's extremely frustrating for the game to punish me for something that was entirely out of my control.

I've only played a half-hour according to Steam, so I'll have to dedicate more time to it soon. But for now, consider me a fan just for the unabashed over-the-topness and dedication to being silly.
