Hey. Even though we opened the site with tons of positive feedback (shocking), I still want to change some of the site to make it... more... "content friendly" as they say. Here is some stuff I might want to see
1. Featured content seen via forums: We know that sometimes users don't always go to the front page, having the featured bar on the side cannot be done here on the forums without sacrificing space. So we are thinking of doing a small featured bar under the (interview/Review etc) tab. Maybe even have a bar with the latest podcast, don't know yet.
2. Right bar color change. Some users have said that the bar on the side sort of blends into the background color.
Anything else you guys want to discuss or talk about changes?

I liked the old SN ranking based on number of posts. SMS, SG, 32X, etc.

Make ranks for us then, no one wants to do it.
Supply names and post number for that rank, I can easily implement it.

Ranks:
* Johnny: 0 posts.
* Slick Denis: 100 posts.
* Wank Master 1000: 1000 posts.
* SEGA Genesis/Megadrive: 2500 posts.
* Overclocked [special coloured font]: 5000 posts.

0-100 = Sega Mark 3
101-200 = Sega Master System
201 - 500 = Sega Genesis (Or Mega Drive)
500 - 750 = Sega CD
751 - 1000 = Sega 32X
1001 - 2000 = Sega Saturn
2001 - 3000 = Sega Dreamcast
3001 + = Typing Of The Dead (I don't know, maybe someone can think of something more clever)

I think Pico and Mark 3 should be switched in position and the post count numbers lowered in the higher ones.
Probably like:
* Saturn: 1500.
* Dreamcast: 2000.
* Overclocked: 3000.

How about bringing back the characters next to site sections. Like how there was Sonic, Alex Kidd, ToeJam & Earl, etc.

Once all the ranks have their own images I will get ride of the needless words part :) but for now... all the ranks don't.. except for kogen ^^

Actually its not, thinking of spiffying up the bar to something web 2.0. You know with added effects for the core.

Shadi, that is such a strange assortment of images. Why is the Saturn the only one with the controller, for instance?
I think it would be better to have names from games instead of the consoles, like you are making the 32X seem better than the Genesis. Not havin' it missy!

Avatars are now above the ranks... any other forum changes will most likely have to wait until I get around to making a new skin.
SO go ahead and give suggestions for the new skin... I'll be basing it off phpbb3 ProSilver, much easier to alter with CSS attibutes... i think.

But it will add more discussion. Remember on SEGA Nerds where an article could easily get over 30 comments? And there were even a lot of guests that were regulars even though they didn't even post on the forums.
And if you want to avoid spam, just have guests type in a confirmation code.

New site/forum look will go live on midnight. We hope the new way we cover news will extend to our already existing fanbase.

The, .5 changes should be coming on the 6th, on our 2 month anniversary (only 2 months!?).
- New featured bar.
- New side bar look.
- Upgraded phpbb3, Wordpress and WP-United (not that anyone will notice this)
That is all planned at this moment. Still researching some other stuff that I might add.

The site is fine the way it is, just the front page is not updated nearly as much as it should be I think.

The new changes will make featured content easier to access across the site. Updating the software will fix security flaws. The new sidebar will be so that we can use widgets if need be. We will most likely put one for the latest comment, something fancy like that, also will change the color of the side bar to be more attractive, did you not whine about it?

Not saying it was negative, but you told me more than once that the side bar clashed with the gradient color. I agree and we are changing it. :3

OMG, Finally!
That's something George doesn't seem to understand. He been harassing me to change the site all week. I finally decided to get it over with =P
It's just.. painful editing code when you just aren't in the mood. You make mistakes, it's uninspired design (well, technically the design isn't uninspired, since George is doing it). I haven't had any passion for web design in the past month, I don't know if I'm losing interest or what.

It is also screwed up on Chrome. Works fine in Firefox, IE8.

I'm using Firefox and I can't read the writing in the top bar features thing, since it's in dark blue and nearly impossible to see. Apart from that it's nice though!

If the stuff doesn't fix for you and it annnoys you just use the segabits wide theme, or the squarebits theme if you are feeling angsty

Same thing happen with me, didn't work; then started working. Might be a Chrome/Safari thing. Don't they use some similar code? Not sure

When I choose Segabits Wide, the feature bar is gone entirely, is that right?

Oddly enough the feature bar is working perfectly now. Looks great!

It really wouldn't look good in the SEGABits wide theme. I'm leaving it out. It would look awkward because the theme stretches to your screen.
