Atlus’ fighting game series Power Instinct will have its 30th anniversary in 2023. However, there will be no ports or re-releases during the timeframe. Keiko “Chuuko” Ijuu, the former representative director of Noise Factory and producer of the series, made the announcement on Twitter. The latest title in the Power Instinct series is Gouketsuji Ichizoku: Senzo Kuyou, available on arcades in Japan since 2009.
Although it is speculative, the character "White Buffalo" that appears in the first "Power Instinct" is the one with the strongest possibility. That's because this character has a racial setting with Native Americans.Native Americans tend to be subject to political correctness considerations. For example, the word "Indian" that was once used in the name is now regarded as a derogatory term, and the US professional baseball team "Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians)" has changed its name from this season. In addition, the US football team "Washington Commanders (formerly known as Red Skins)" has been sued because of the name "Red Skins". Also, "classical Indian statues" such as "hold a tomahawk, put on a feather headdress, and make a strange loud voice" are also subject to criticism and concern as they promote prejudice.And White Buffalo also has a character setting similar to that of the Indian statue.
