. Also worth noting, Mike Pollock does NOT return for the short despite the character having lines.

Sega Animation Team's Jasmin Hernandez Talks Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Future Animated Projects

Quote
Q : "Which game proved more challenging to adapt?"
A : "Since each Sonic game we’ve adapted has been different, they all had their own set of challenges.
However, I will say that the game that provided the most challenges to adapt was Team Sonic Racing.
Teamwork is important to Team Sonic Racing, and it’s something we wanted to highlight in our animation."

Would e nice to have a 2D animated Sonic cartoon agai. I mean I'm not knocking Sonic Prime before I try it, just prefer AoSTH over Sonic Boom because I regard both cartoons aimed at the same age group, but AoSTH could do much more because they were not confined to the limits of 3D models and provided scenaries.

It's sometimes hit and miss.
AoSTH's probably good, but Sonic Underground ???
Sonic Underground was not confined to the limits of 3D models and provided sceneries, but it's still not that good.

Sonic Underground was ne of those shows that only had a realisation of popularity after it was canned. As in after the first season the producers were like "This is a pointless endeavour, let's just end it here." and then their were fans who were like "HAng on, what happens next? Did they ever reunited with their mother? What about Knuckles?" so kinda ironic when that happened.

Sonic SatAM's kinda had the same fate too.
Ironic thing is it almost had an ending movie.
Ben Hurst, one of the writers, attempted to pitch a movie in an attempt to revive the old Saturday Morning universe, shortly after MGM gave the film rights for Sonic the Hedgehog back to Sega.
Too bad Ken Penders killed his attempt by claiming to Sega that he was trying to co-opt the franchise.

Yeah, Penders ended up so hated by the Sonic fandom. There is still hope that Season 3 or a TV special will still be a thing. I thinkBen Hurst deserves it after making one of the most successful Sonic cartoons ever.
