Thing about making a new JRPG is, will they be dedicated to it? Like, are they making it for freemium reasons or can they invision a proper franchise from it? Because they might as well recycle their older Classic-era content for mobile gaming.

Like a Golden Axe mobile game. Pay £30 to unlock the Platinum Axe.

May be they still wait and see.. for how it goes with Shining Force mobile later.

I'm tempted to play it, but still avoiding it now, afraid that I'll get addicted to it.
Just like two mobile games that collaborate with Sonic before (Monster Super League, Pac-Man mobile).
I played those two games every day back then.

Sega's new mobile RPG is getting four times as many dislikes as likes on YouTube

Quote
It wasn't all bad news to everyone, though. "This looks amazing! Looking very much forward to it!" insisted one happy commenter.
Given the countdown on the website, we'll likely find out more about the mysterious game at Tokyo Game Show 2021 on 1st October.

Sega's new mobile RPG is getting four times as many dislikes as likes on YouTube
Honestly I'm not as surprised. How many mobile RPGs do they own now? Chain Chronicle, Dragon Coins, Idola, that one that got an anime...

Don't get me wrong, given arcade games is Sega's secondary interest over video games themselves, and given covid is keeping everyone from going to those arcades means people will be more on their computers and mobiles. And mobile gaming would make sense to Sega given freemium payment is the same as "token payment".

But I think the reason why Sega's mobile RPGs are getting disliked is because at this point they're just churning out generic fantasy RPG stuff just to make games that encourage you to spend, just like most other mobile games out there.

If they were to release a "Joypolis app" or a "PlaySega app", the app offers like, a small bunch of tokens every hour or so but you can pay to buy more tokens. And spend these tokens on arcade games made for the phone, like classic Virtua Cop or House of the Dead games that require you to tap the screen or something.
Or if Sega wanted to, all those arcade games they have in mind but no new arcade machines to put them on, put them on the phone.

When I said Sega should go for the mobile gaming market, this is what I had in mind for them. Using what they know about arcade games and applying it to mobile games. But instead they're just making freemium RPGs that are all shell, no substance.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2luhwy3KAE0

The thing is ... this game is supposed to be for Japan market only (and Asia if it's well received).
That's why it's being announced at Tokyo Game Show.
That's why the trailer is in Japanese.
That's why the website is in Japanese.
Mobile market is big thing in Japan and Asia, choosing mobile as a platform is normal thing to do.

But its youtube is full of angry english comment.
Why? Because many western gamesite put the trailer in their article.
And they hyped it before as if SEGA was gonna announcing something big for all people over the world while it's just a Japan exclusive interview.
When they got none of they wanted, they click the dislike for a trailer that's not supposed for them.

I kinda feel bad for the developer of the game.
They knew very well they're going to make a mobile game for Japan market.
They don't have to put up with angry comments from another countries.

I guess that's also the cause. I know that feeling... (I'll never get to see the Golden Axe stage production that was exclusively in Japan.)
