As far as I remember, there are no console or SEGA games that he hates ... other than those visual novel games port form PC.
If the console has SEGA games, he'll try it.

He's quite the funcle.

But Segata Sanshiro is a dad, not an uncle.

But Segata Sanshiro is a dad, not an uncle.

The kid he beat up didn't know that.
So they called him "ojisan" (uncle), a common mention for old stranger guy.

Was the kid just being polite?

Well yeah.. could be that too.

Most of the references went over my head.

Back then those games weren't that popular in the western afterall.

Does look like a good hack 'n slash with RPG elements.

Yes, it's an amazing 2D beat em up / hack 'n slash game with a smooth animation.
Made by Treasure, SEGA's second party game company who made Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, Light Crusader, and Alien Soldier.

A sequel also has been made for Gameboy Advance entitled Advance Guardian Heroes.
But due to the inferior hardware, it's not as smooth as its Saturn prequel.
Sometimes in the game we'll get frame rate problems. Still fun to play though.

Imagine if they did a Golden Axe game.

Gameplay-wise it'll be amazing.
Graphic-wise, this game's art style reminded me more of Golden Axe: The Duel.
There's even a hero who looks like Doc there.
