This looks interesting!
Budget developer Epicenter has announced Rock of the Dead for Wii, essentially a rhythm version of SEGA's quirky Typing of the Dead. Think on-rails shooter, but using a guitar instead of a gun.
At this stage in development the game absolutely requires a Guitar Hero peripheral to play, but they may include an option for a standard Wii controller eventually. Rock of the Dead doesn't featured licenced songs, but rather rock versions of classical music (public domain). There'll be two player co-op and multiple paths to take for added replay value.
Epicenter has secured Neil Patrick Harris (Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, 'Barney Stinson' in How I Met Your Mother), as the main character's voice talent. Expect a thick layer of cheese.
Rock of the Dead is expected out in America later this year at a budget price-point. Screens with obnoxious IGN watermark right below this sentence.

Damn it SEGA, take the game and make your own that doesn't look like its for the iPhone.
-
I have to say this is just stupid.
-
I'm so getting a Wii for this!
-
Wow, this is such a blatant rip-off. "Rock of the Dead"? They could've at least made the name unique.
-
Sega should seriously sue.

shegashouldsheriouslyshoo!
Ooh thats a tough one.

Oh wait. For some reason I understood that Sega was somehow behind this.

WORST GAME EVARR!!!!111!1

I saw some footage of it on IGN, the game looks TERRIBLE. The music that was chosen in the game sounded really weak, and there didn't seem to be any actual effect for hitting/missing the notes, the music just kept playing :| I think in theory the idea of public domain rock covers could work (imagine a heavy metal cover of Moonlight Sonata or Ride of the Valkyries!) but it sounded really bland, whatever song it was that I heard.
I honestly would like Sega to actually take this over and do a much better game, they could afford some licensed tracks for one thing, and also get some classic HOTD tunes in there.
-
Yeah, cause this is in fact a really cool concept, and Neil Patrick Harrison is a definite plus. He would sound AMAZING saying cheesy HotD lines.
If Sega picked this up, I'd get a Wii, this time for real I promise.
-
Amazing concept, horrible execution.
What is this, a Sonic Team game?
-
Sega should seriously sue.
sue and then take the idea for themselves...
Pretty sure they did that with something previously.
