Games that make you smile
« on: March 01, 2013, 02:58:17 pm »
Friday is my main game night, I'm having a break to type this.

I fired up the dreamcast and popped in hydro thunder, the mrs came into the me and said 'what are you smiling at?' at that point i realized i had a big grin on my face.

Now don't get me wrong i like my serious games i was in a quite successfull COD clan for a few years before i broke the habit, i also am a big resident evil and elder scrolls fan.

But after playing hydro thunder for half an hour i then popped in crazy taxi and still felt the same, so my question to you is what are the games that make you smile???

just for starters my top 5 in no order are;

hydro thunder
crazy taxi
ready 2 rumble
virtua tennis
propeller arena

I'll post some non-SEGA games since I don't want to make a huge list. Here are a few:

Tomba!

Mega Man Legends

Also low res screens of the games lol.

It's hard to say, lately any game I've picked up in the past six months has just depressed me before, during and after playin'.

But if I were to make a random list, these are the first items:

-Spellwood: A Word Adventure;
-Saint's Row 2;
-Sonic Generations;
-Earth Defense Force 2017;

Unique introduction of SEGA logo in the beginning of some games always make me smile.
For example : Cute SEGA chant from Magical Taluluto (pictured) or from Mirai version of Hatsune Miku.

SEGA Genesis has a lot of these.
It's SEGA system that made me smile the most.

Almost every game had it's own.  Disney's Aladdin, Comix Zone, Vector Man, Eternal Champions had one for every character!

Yeah, almost every GENESIS game. You won't find this on SEGA CD. Lol.
It's like SEGA said to the developer, "Gp ahead, have fun with our logo in the beginning of the game. You can even blow it up if you want to."
Genesis Does what others don't.

If you are really down, I highly recommend Gal Gun: Double Peace (PS4, PSVITA and PC).

I mean, it's basically Virtua Cop / THOTD but with schoolgirls instead of zombies or crooks. It has a silly story and while the entire premise is silly, it's self-aware, but it's innocent in what it does.

I'll stick with House Of The Dead, thanks.  C'mon, Sega!  Make a new one already!
