I’d like to try them but they had to stop me because they wanted to – for the character in the script – explore from scratch. That’s why I decided not to play,” admitted Kenot Katu, the actor set to play Akira Nishikiyama in the TV show.

On one hand, means unlikely we'll get another TV series based on Sonic's third movie.
On the other hand, what they expect from making a Knuckles TV series with secondary human character as protagonist?

It's a bold direction to go. Instead of the actors trying to emulate the existing characters, have them be more natural to the role.

On the other hand, what they expect from making a Knuckles TV series with secondary human character as protagonist?

Cost saving, that's what I expected.
With human character as protagonist they could fit the CGI effects into the limited TV series budget.

It's a bold direction to go. Instead of the actors trying to emulate the existing characters, have them be more natural to the role.

Many games-to-movie adaptation failed with this approach. Hopefully not with this one.

But despite my gripe with Shadow having a whole year to himself, I will give credit to one thing and that it is bringing back attention to G.U.N. Something I figured Sonic Team swept under the rug along with actual firearms.
Though technically it's past iterations of G.U.N. given Dr. Eggman himself confirms he wiped them out.

Sonic the Hedgehog Lands on Netflix, Immediately Speeds Through Streamer's Movie Charts

Monday's Netflix Top 10 Movies list shows Sonic the Hedgehog as the third-biggest movie on the service in North America.
Within a day of Sonic arriving on Netflix, subscribers were already finding it and sitting down to check it out.
The only other new addition that managed to reach those heights at the start of the month is Aloha. The romantic comedy was added the same day as Sonic and sits one spot higher on the daily charts.
