Sega dominated UK PC charts

Quote
Sega's Napoleon: Total War has made its debut at the top of the PC weekly chart.

This week's entire top three is made of Sega games, with Football Manager 2010 climbing to second, above Aliens Vs. Predator in third.

Only Left 4 Dead 2 manages to sneak into an otherwise familiar chart at nine, wedged between Wrath Of The Lich King at eight, and Mass Effect 2 at ten.

The top ten in full:

1. (-) Napoleon: Total War (Sega)
2. (3) Football Manager 2010 (Sega)
3. (1) Aliens Vs. Predator (Sega)
4. (2) The Sims 3 (Electronic Arts)
5. (4) The Sims 3: World Adventures (Electronic Arts)
6. (6) Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision)
7. (5) Bioshock 2 (2K Games)
8. (7) World Of Warcraft: Wrath Of The Lich King (Activision)
9. (14) Left 4 Dead 2 (Electronic Arts)
10. (8) Mass Effect 2 (Electronic Arts)

The debut for SASASR doesn't look too good considering it's on 4 different systems.
They ruined the release, that is why. No one could buy it barely.

Well, I think Rebellion need to prove themselves again... I'm still not sold they are a worthy buy after AvP. A good game but it wasnt amazing in any resepct and it did feel a bit dated.

But if they really do own Judge Dredd and 2000 AD thats a slightly better insentive.

But surely there are better developers in Europe then Rebellion, CA and SI were such good buys on SoEs behalf... Rebellion is not of the same calibur at all.
Neither was Secret Level but that didn't stop them. Anyway no one saying its going to happen just that it could happen.
Heres a snippet about 2000 AD's owner...

Announced today at WizardWorld Chicago, the classic British sci-fi character Judge Dredd will see a new series in 2009 from the American publisher, conceived and written by Garth Ennis ("The Boys") and Dredd co-creator John Wagner - the first project in a series of releases Dynamite is working out with Rebellion, Dredd's UK owner and publisher.

Ohhh Garth Ennis is writing a new Judge Dredd? He's a big name in Comics, I wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be a bit of a success. Maybe the Judge Dredd name would be a good thing to buy into at this stage.

IMO Judge Dredd has excellent potential as a videogame. I am not a huge fan, but I think that is the kind of franchise SEGA needs to pick up on as Judge Dredd is 90sSEGADNAstyleFoShoAAA !

It would be strange. 2000Ad's previous owner use to publish Sonic The comic in the UK as well.

Wasn't the point of this game being called Sonic and All Stars was to give it more exposure that Sega superstars apparently didn't have? I hardly saw this game being advertised on the TV either unlike Sega superstars Tennis which was all over the place before and after its release.

Well, not a bad week for Sega.

Even with a strong release such as Battlefield: Bad Company 2, AvP only slightly dipped one more spot, from 2 to 3, beaten by Just Dance(seriously, I have never heard of this game).

But doing well, all the same.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars got a huge bump, no doubt due to good word of mouth.

from 8th to 5th place. Beating out Wii Fit Plus.

M&S 2 dipped only spot from 11th to 12th.

Napoleon:TW and FM 2010 are haging out next to each other on 20th and 21st, respectively.

Vancouver 2010 had the largest drop from 14th to 25th.

And Bayonetta dropped two spots from 34th to 36th, while it's direct competition Dante's Inferno is underperforming.

Dante's Inferno is doing hilariously bad considering the marketing budget it had. I am wondering if this is because God of War III is coming out or if that will fail to meet expectations as well?

It is also good to see a game based on this outsell Bayonetta. [youtube:90r8zgl3]iYDIApvvpgg[/youtube:90r8zgl3]

SASASR seems to be doing very badly considering it's a Sonic game and got good reviews.

I don't know how accurate they are, but VGChartz says that the 360 version of the game sold only 4,132 copies and 5,321 copies in the US and Europe respectively last week.

Since it came out, the 360 version only sold 60,000 copies. That's horrible, because that's the version I want to sell the most! (For more DLC support!)

You can see the totals for the other versions here:

Actually it sold 71, 553 copies and 6403 copies last week. They are WRONG. I counted this personally to the very last DIGIT.

It's a damn shame, first good(at least generally) Sonic game in years and it sells poorly. Life is a bitch, sometimes.

Speaking of which, here's the chart-track for last week that ended in March 20th.

Mostly drops. Sonic & Sega All-Stars(7th to 9th), AvP(8th to 16th) and Mario & Sonic At the Olympic Winter Games(21st to 26th).

The big surprise was Sonic Classics Collection for the DS which got bumped pretty good, from 35th to 28th.

A very below the radar release that's certainly doind good. And a good choice for Sega, lots of money for little effort.

FM 2010 moved up a spot, I guess the series will still be making money as soccer season is still around. What will happen when the World Cup starts?

And Bayonetta has re-entered the nÂș40 spot. Still making itself be heard.

And still around even as GoW 3 hit. Remember Dante's Inferno?

Yakuza 3 dropped almost immediatly. It's currently the 13th best selling PS3 title.

They aren't very accurate at all, they've got Valkyria Chronicles at around half a million sold in America, NPD put Valkyria Chronicles closer to 140,000. VGChartz numbers are the worst type of guesses.

I'm not sure I believe Valkyrie only sold 140,000 in America after two years. Didn't it sale about 100,000 in its first two months or so on the market?  And then we know there was a healthy surge after the price drop and the DLC. And its gotten great word of mouth. I'm not saying its sold 500,000, but I do think 140,000 is a bit low. Those are Panzer Dragoon numbers, and PD didn't see a second life after its price drop and there was no DLC; its wad was blown early.

On the topic of numbers, Yakuza 3 is chugging along quite admirably. At present, its about 70,000 in America, and it seems to have more or less stabilized at 15,000 a week, since there was virtually no drop off from last week. While those numbers may seem abysmal (Worse than ToeJam and Earl 3) they are actually significant improvements over the last two installments. Further, if it can keep at about 8-15 K over the next month or two, I think this has an excellent shot of breaking it past 150,000 life time in America.

Yakuza 4 debuted stronger than Yakuza 3 in Japan by about 15,000. What's interesting to note is it had a strong dropoff by about 25,000. Week 2 for Yakuza 3 was about 50,000 and week 2 for Yakuza 4 looks like it should be about 75,000, which puts the grand total at about 450,000 thus far, which is pretty goddamn good if you ask me.

End of Eternity bombed in America. In two weeks its moved less than 40K on the PS3.

AvP continues to do well.

Those are official NPD numbers. No denying them.
