I don't understand why Atlus gets special treatment here. They are 100% Sega owned. It should follow the same "any game after Sega acquired it" rules as the other acquired developers.
Other than that, fully agree with the ruleset and already trying to narrow down my list.
haha Im not sure. I'm actually pressed for space and am considering folding sonic 1 and 2 into Sonic Jam. But if that's not allowed I'll make do.
Can i host this poll at Sonic Stadium and then ferry over the results here ?
Does anyone here have a Neogaf account ? If we host the poll there we surely can get a ton of votes.
Well it's near impossible to push a thread in reddit, and you obviously can't trust 4chan, so Neogaf's the only big gaming forum left, and besides there's a ton of Sega fans at Neogaf.
I would never trust Neo Gaf. They're the LAST community anyone should ever take seriously.
It's an extremely biased forum.(Pro Sony.)

Bayonetta 2 still sorta counts, right? Cause that game is better than the first in almost every way that counts.
Nice first list, Sharky! Gotta say, I agree with a bulk of the selections and nice representation of all the years.
Barry one thing to make a note of Sonic & Knuckles is that is actually functions as three games. The full package, Knuckles in Sonic 2 and the endless special stage in Sonic 1, but I agree to avoid the muddling that it should count as one (S3&K) game at this point.
[/size]Yeah, I'd rather avoid getting other forums involved in that capacity as I don't want to deal with moderators or having to police another forum's lists. I'd rather people post here (it's not difficult to make an account, and they don't have to stay. George and I don't make money on traffic, so this isn't a ploy to increase visits... though if people stay for SEGA discussion the more the merrier).Re: Knuckles in Sonic 2, I think we can just consider that to be a part of the Sonic 2 game. Doesn't need to be mentioned on lists, but it is an expansion of the game and can be deemed a version of it just as Sonic 2 iOS and 3D Sonic 2 all count toward Sonic 2. I should also note that a bad port does not invalidate a game's quality. The original iOS Sonic 1 and 2 and the GBA Sonic 1 are crap, no question, but the game itself is the focus and if the game exists in a better state then obviously we are referring to that. The core/base/original game.
I never expected to see Bonanza Bros so high on anyones list! Not that I am saying you're wrong. Just surprising.
A+ on keeping the ellipses on Nights.

One question,
will you be grouping for example Outrun Online Arcade and Outrun 2006 under Outrun 2?
Glad to see the original Phantasy Star Online getting the recognition it deserves. What it accomplished at the time was unreal.
Unless I missed something I'm really surprised Ristar hasn't been mentioned yet.
Sorry. I played it alot on Sega Channel during '95. Maybe its because alot here have never played Sonic Mega Collection/Plus.
Should the likes of Quake and Mortal Kombat and Prince of Persia be eligible?
No way. If they didn't even develop it, only games that Sega published AND hold the copyright for should qualify.
A good example is the Guardian/Gunstar heroes franchises. Both of these ips are owned by Sega despite Treasure developing them. I don't know what the source is for this but on the wiki page for Advance Guardian Heroes it states: "Since Sega is the original copyright holder and wasn't interested in assuming the production of a sequel, Treasure had to license the intellectual property from Sega in order to carry out the game themselves."
The same thing happened with Bayonetta 2 more or less, Sega just had to give permission. Both Advance Guardian Heroes and B2 don't qualify right now for the reason that Sega did not publish or develop.
Between developing, publishing and owning the IP, at least 2 of these should be applicable to games on the list.
@pcm92 I'm going to need to request a edited list replacing Double Dragon, Prince of Persia, Soul Caliber, Mortal Kombat, and Quake. You would obviously find things wrong with a new list that I post too, so why should I even go through the trouble?
Also, I'm uncertain as to the inclusion of Psycho Fox. I know VIC Tokai development it, but am not knowledgable of who owns the IP.

Good list! One point: Bayonetta 2 is not allowed as it only satisfies one of the three qualifications (SEGA owns the IP). Could you either replace it or bump everything down one and add a 25th game? :)I like how you point out Bayonetta 2 instead of Super Tempo.
I like how you point out Bayonetta 2 instead of Super Tempo.
I thought the Tempo series was a SEGA IP, but I don't think it actually is. It's weird.
I love reading everyone's lists, it just amazes me how few people put Shining Force or have 0 Sega CD games in their top 25 list! Also nice to know how many think as one of the original PS series in their top 25. I would love for another PS stand alone RPG. Or hell, give me complete remakes of 1-4 and I would be happy.
Ideally, I'd like to hit around 40-50 lists by the end of the year, but I'm fine if we continue into 2016 as I've already noted the cutoff date of October 19th, 2015 for possible games.
One other random observation... I like seeing the games that show up on most peoples' lists - but I really enjoy seeing the outliers, the rare ones that are just on one or two peoples' lists... those games that may not be universally considered classics, but were deep and resonant with a few people nevertheless.
Tried to avoid spamming this list with Yakuzas and Virtua Fighters. Is aki losing his touch...........................?

Oh, and a new stand alone PS rpg.Now we're talking!
Now we're talking!
Mine too, although I never got to play III
What's you favorite PS game? Mine's is Phantasy Star 4.
How do Sega published Treasure games work for the list? With some games they are not listed as developer but assisted Treasure in the development process. Something like Dynamite Headdy they published and own the ip, so check. But what about a game like McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure? Is McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure one of the best Sega games of all time?
I want McDonald's on my list. That game is fantastic, I came to it as an adult so no nostalgia is in play.
A majority of the games that have debatable ownership have hardly appeared on more than one list, so the possibility of them even making the final combined list is doubtful.Or just count all the games on those lists as a 25 spot.
I've also noticed some lists on the front page, not here in the forums, that either have the list maker clearly stating that there is no order, or they go alphabetically, or (most bizarrely) they include way more than 25 by having .5's and .25's and 0's. These lists are going to be ignored in the combined list. I know these people spent time and energy to make their lists, but if they don't follow the simple rule of 25 games in order from 1 to 25 then I can't use them.
We should do a top 25 SEGA music after this :)
Would be cool.
You could always just have list then a more in depth look with forum quotes etc afterwards.
Question: would you guys want just a straight list, or an article with some effort put into it including box art, wiki links, and a brief writeup on why the game is great? The latter would take some time to put together, but I feel would be more worth it in the long run for the site.
Nights Into Dreams was the best Saturn game.

Is Crazy Taxi 2 better or worse than the original?
I'm curious to see how many points each game received. As in was Sonic 2 way ahead of shenmue or was it close. Especially since there was a tie
