Quick breakdown
- 7 billion yen is about £52 million / $80 million
- Sammy in major dollage, as they say
- Arcade business remained strong in sales
- Amusement centres have posted operating income
- Iron Man 2 shipped 1,120,000 units, Alpha Protocol shipped 700,000 units
And a quick note to all the mods, I am doing a report on this, be kind enough not to post this on the front page kay?
PS. Nintendo posted $290 million loss, SEGA posted a $80 million profit
SEGA does what Nintendon't.

It's been a good year for SEGA, I wish upcoming games like Vanquish sell well too.

SEGA have been very conservative about the sort of sales they expect from that game, between a 1 million to 1.5 million, they've said they would be happy with.
Considering how much they usually convience retailers to stock up on, I think Vanquish may very well meet it's target, although closer to 1 million then above 1 million. After all, they managed to convience retailers that Alpha Protocol would sell so much.

Consumer Teams still lost money :( , but its nice to see the Arcade side perform well. With luck the consumer Teams will make a profit next year

the consumer teams made a profit last year with 6.2 billion yen profit (72 million dollar ) even with their bad starting with 52 million dollar loss in first quarter ....
this year everything seems to be shaping well including the consumer business area . so far there is nothing to worry about ...

Is "Consumer Business" including not only console and PC games, but also Sega Toys? Or is Sega Toys considered a separate company?

Consumer Business = SEGA's software + SEGA TOYS + TMS animation side
but you have to know that this division rely too much on SEGA's software performance , for example last year the division made 72 million dollar profit , out of that TMS made 1 million dollar profit while SEGA TOYS lose 198 thousands of dollars .

Yes and SEGA stated in the report that Bakugan and Detective Conan did well for them.
It was weak sales of Iron Man 2 and Alpha Protocol brought the segment down.
-
Sonic 4 definitely would have helped the numbers, but since they're high anyway, it's sort of a moot point.
With Colors, 4, Adventure and Vanquish hitting this fall, I foresee that $£GA will be doing very well for 2011.

I love this kind of news...
The Nintendo losses are the cherry on top... (As someone that hates their current hardware AND as a bitter Sega fanboy.)

Huh ? I though the Consumer Teams reordered a loss of 0.9 billion Yen in 2009 . Also I'm not worried , but quite happy at the sharp turn out of losses into profits and more than happy to see the Arcade sector back on top.
But I'm not cracking out the champaign just Yet.
Sega had a dreadful E3, are not bothering to go to summer events and have very little to show off . Sure Sonic looks great (Said I have high hopes for Sonic Team) and Creative Assembly has got me excited, but's that it.
What I really want, is a game from SEGA Japan that blows my socks off, for the 360 and PS3, Made In-House and pushing the systems to their limits.
SEGA Japan need an amazing Tokyo Game show imo

I wouldn't say weak sales. I'm really surprised Alpha Protocol shipped 700k after that Mike Hayes said the sales were low. It's a very good number in my opinion.
Great news btw 8-)
