商願2010-64684 PHANTASY STAR エターナルハンターズ
商願2010-64685 PHANTASY STAR エターナルプラネッツ
Not secure to 100%, because the source is 2ch.
and also the translation of the japanese text (with Google or Babelfish) is cramped.
-
PS3 and 360 versions of the same game?
-
according to google translate (its more accurate when you translate word by word)
エターナル = Eternal
ハンターズ = Hunters
プラネッツ = Planets
so if google is right, it would be
Phantasy Star Eternal Hunters
Phantasy Star Eternal Planets
or maybe
Phantasy Star Hunters Eternal
Phantasy Star Planets Eternal
what? XDD
either way, interesting.
-
I say the second one, just like how Infinity is what is being thrown onto the end of the PSP games. Perhaps portables = infinity, consoles = eternal?
-
I want Phantasy Star Online 2. Just like that. Would be perfect. Oh well.
Off topic: Why was the video of PSP2I's intro taken off the main page and the Sega forums?
-
I see "Hunters" and think it might be a Monster Hunter-ish game for PSP.
-
Maybe two versions of the same game, each with their exclusive things.. Like Pokemon Blue and Red.
-
I am so goddamn ready. Bring it on sega. Redeem yourselves!

From what? There are no bad Phantasy Star games..
Which reminds me, are the Phantasy Star games still being made by Sonic Team?
-
I hope for an online experience closer to the pso games. If not that I hope they finally go back to the turn based stuff, hopefully well executed

Thanks Shadi, I did not I think:)

Phantasy Star Universe was a pretty bad game...
However they already redeemed that with Phantasy Star: Zero and Phantasy Star Portable 2... Which are both very good games.
-
I wouldn't call PSU bad..
As I said before, I think it's overpriced. But as a game itself it's pretty normal fun.
Then again, if you're used to play online a lot the SP campaign might be boring for you..
-
Imo PSU is a pretty mediocre game, and this comes from someone that finished both PSU and illuminus.
Never really played online, didn't think it was worth it.
-
PSZero was pretty great and I've heard PSP2 is good.
However that still hasn't washed the taste of PSU from my mouth. I don't know how many of you played the ps2 version but it was a complete mess. I'm not even talking about the game itself which was pretty mediocre to begin with. I'm talking about straight performance. Playing online with a party of 4 was pretty damn painful given the immense slowdown(unforgivable. PSO always ran great and was released years prior). Playing with 6 players was impossible. Coupled with the poor level progression due to level limits (you had to play that one guardian's colony level like, 4 times before you could even move on to Plains overlord), a tacky single player experience, and inferior art design, you had truly an awful experience. To those that said the game appreciated with the expansion or the psp release: Forget it. I spent 50$ on a terrible game(twice actually, as I imported the JP version in my excitement), I'm not about to buy a new platform just to experience it again albeit slightly improved. All people did was spam plains overlord all day anyway. None of the other quests were ever played. Ever.
Solid to Good portable experiences aren't enough to redeem what used to be the ultimate home console experience in online gaming. Plus the art direction for the portable games is wretched. Please get your vampires and anime trash out of my Phantasy Star. Bring back the slick designs of PSO!
-
I don't think that PSU + AotI is a bad game, is not good as PSO and imho they tried to put too many innovations on it that in the end are really confusing. But in general i liked the game and spent several hours playing both story and side quests. I'd like the new PS will be more similar to PSO but with a new attack system (something more than press X and Y)
-
I agree with Ulala. I played it on the 360, better add since you are complaining about the PS2 version. Everything was smooth.
I hope the new one is monthly cheaper too.
I do have a "problem" with paying 15 bucks a month for a single game. And the previous payment methods weren't my cup of tea either. I only have a debit card and it's a pain to pay for stuff online with it.
-
I played on pc with no slowdowns whatsoever on high settings and still thought the game was flawed.
PSU was a start in a new direction, sadly it was a step backwards from pso. It wasn't just the new mechanics I disliked. What I dislike the most about psu were the fields, they were all so open and yet so dead and plain. I prefered Pso's style of fields which had perfect field sizes (thinking of forest, mines, ruins, jungle forest etcetera) and were so alive.
It just felt nicer to me
-
Im pretty sure PSU was developed for the ps2 first and foremost. That's nice that you got to play it on 360 though. It's fun playing ps2 quality games on next generation hardware isn't it? You didn't feel, I dunno, gypped or anything?
-
Anything above Dreamcast graphics is fine by me. I'm not a fan of HD either.
Overall I simply don't care about graphics.. I just enjoy them if they are there.

It looks and runs great on 360...
I despised online play and don't support the game in the least, but I had zero performance issues. The PS2 version ran like crap.

I agree with this, I felt all of the locations in PSU were very samey and boring... If they weren't taking place in recolours of boring dungeons, it was very plain outdoor locations with no real set peices.
-
Yeah it was a bit bland, but the gameplay was still great. And even PSO wasn't much of a bigshot at level variety itself..
-
I don't know about that. Each of the four levels in PSO were uniquely atmospheric. From the water dripping in caves 2 to the clickity clank of the machines in mines, each area was overflowing with personality. Also the levels were comprised of multiple segments. Forest one had a day segment followed by a stormy section in which the central dome was visible. Caves was the most diverse of all, from magma to underground gardens. Mines 1 had a functional segment followed by a dilapidated one. My point is that there was a clear progression. That's what was so appealing/exciting.
-
Yes, but in reality you were playing in the same environments over and over again.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I like it better that way too. But it's little variety really.
I did like the progression you talk about too.
-
Na I agree with Radrappy, The areas in PSO were atmosphere overload, I loved everything... The caves and mines were amazingly colourful and unique.
And Forest 2 where the Pioneer 1 centreal dome looms in the background was fantastic/chilling... Later Episode 2 and 4 added some even more interesting levels.
Each level often had a big set peice room/area that woahed you too... PSU lacked this.
PSUs locations all feel very dull and samey... Most are closed in, boring dungeons that feel like pallet swaps of the previous one with no set peice rooms or anything exciting to break up the grind.
Portable 2 is a nice improvement I think and I reckon the next main PSO will bring back that uniqueness under the guidance of Sakai-San.
-
Well.. okay, that's a more positive way of looking at it.
I too prefer PSO, don't mistaken me ;)
-
I am worried if it really is Phantasy Star Online 2 it does not take too many ideas from the Monster Hunter series. Of course it will, considering how big that has gotten, but those games do a lot I really do not think is much fun at all, just tedious.
Honestly, I had a lot of fun with offline modes in Phantasy Star Online. If they can make it slightly more interesting than what was here I would really get very excited.
...If it is for the HD consoles, mind you!
Oh, and let my custom character have a mustache, dammit!
-
Did PSP2 take ideas from Monster Hunter?
-
As far as I'm aware, Phantasy Star Portable only feed off of Monster Hunter's popularity, rather than feeding off of the general design. Much in the same way that Namco title did and a few others are starting to do the same now too.
-
Monster hunter is boring as piss.
Phantasy Star Portable is nothing like Monster Hunter. SEGA is just riding off its popularity by putting it on the PSP and using the name "Portable"
-
I got monster hunter tri on my wii. I understand if some find it to be boring, but it's a whole different game and cannot even be compared to PS. While ps is more combat orientated, monster hunter puts more emphasis on hunting, collecting and that kind of stuff, which is really slow paced shit, but I enjoyed for a couple of months.
The big monster battles are the only epic battles in the games(especially when doing them online), little enemies that attack you on the field are just there to annoy or collect items from and can easily be avoided.
No I don't think PS looks like monster hunter in the slightest and agree with Aki-at.
-
I say the second one, just like how Infinity is what is being thrown onto the end of the PSP games. Perhaps portables = infinity, consoles = eternal?
and iOS = hunters
-
The psp games were definitely monster hunter inspired. From the platform of choice to the change in art direction, it's really clear where Sega was getting its inspiration from. But hey, who can blame them?
-
Phantasy Star Portable just looks like more PSU to me in terms of art. It doesnt look like monster hunter imo

Oh no?
-
hm right beasts, forgot about them =P
i don't think anything else does though.
nothing like this in monster hunter

-
well no obviously PSP has things monster hunter doesn't. But the point is that there are things in PSP that are definitely monster hunter inspired. Listing things that don't look like monster hunter isn't helping any argument here.
-
I'm not trying to start an argument, and I'm not trying to say that it isn't inspired by Monster Hunter. I just think it's mostly inspired by PSU. PSU is what I think of when I see art for Phantasy Star Portable.
-
it's not inspired by PSU. it IS PSU. With, y'know, monster hunter on top.
-
You are right, PSPortable has taken some inspiration from the monster hunter art style to try and lure the fans into the PS series.
But lets not forget MH is just a copy of what was started with PSO in the first place. If PSO was the original MH took more ideas from PSO then PSO could ever hope to take from MH.
-
agreed! huzzah!
-
I doubt they're going to do PSO2, but it will be interesting to see what comes from this.
In my opinion PSZ captured that PSO feel, not its depth, but its feel... Dungeon atmosphere and combat. Yet it absolutely horribly terribly bombed with character designs.
Industrial revolution humans?
No thank you.

The sad reality is Hajime"Nightmare"Satomi
-
this is only slightly related, but did anyone else see this and think it was ripping off Phantasy Star Online?
I mean jesus look at the outfits. Even his saber is almost identical.
Btw the game is called Saga 3: Shadow or Light and is being developed by square enix for DS.

What was that about a Satomi nightmare? SEGA announced PSO2, so what is your point?
-
My point... emm  I'm very surprised, and equally happy!
