I think they should have stopped at the second one. Third and Origins were lame. So lame that I didn't buy them on DVD, and I own just about every superhero movie on DVD.

Looking forward to Sin City 2 though. Loved the first, especially the uncut unrated DVD, which had all the stories play out as mini movies.

They should have just waited for Bryan Singer to finish Superman instead of rushing X3 into production with whoever was on hand (Matthew Vaughn, then Brett Ratner). I think I'm mostly pissy with X3 because they effed up Joss Whedon's awesome story, and the Phoenix saga all at the same time.

Yeah, rushing it was a really stupid idea. I would have preferred a 140 minute telling of the story with Singers involvement, rather than a 90 minute crapfest from the director of Rush Hour.

Off topic: I'll admit, I really liked Superman Returns. I liked the pacing, not so fast paced, and I loved the score. Yeah, it was mostly a love letter to the old movies, but that sorta helped it feel classic and iconic. It was also a nice alternative to the dark and gritty comic book films of the time. The Super Son thing was kinda stupid, but as a semi-sequel to Superman 2 it did make sense (Lois and Clark knocked boots in the Donner films). Ideal Superman trilogy in my opinion is Superman the Movie: 2000 expanded edition, Superman II: The Donner Cut, Superman Returns.

I'm starting to pick up on the inconsistencies. Like Beast being human in a tiny scene in X2, yet being Beast in X3, and now he's Beast again in First Class.

There was a recent interview with Brian Singer and he said that this is a prequel, not a reboot. When asked about the inconsistencies, he said: "We did our best to maintain continuity with the other films. But as sometimes happens for the sake of telling the most compelling story possible, we made a few concessions."

I can forgive him. It's not like he was thinking prequel when making the first two, and he had little to do with the third. Way I see it: X-Men 1 and 2 are totally legit (minus that very small scene of Hank McCoy in X2) as is First Class. X-Men 3 is best forgotten (half the cast died and there was no resolution!) and X-Men Origins Wolverine is stricken from the record, thanks to it being a huge stinker and the fact that Emma Frost is in Wolverine AND First Class.

Speaking of The Wolverine, Darren Aronofsky is out of directing :(

The Russian trailer actually shows Beast going from normal guy to blue and furry though.

So if Beast is 17 years old in First Class (portrayed by a 21 year old), which takes place in the 60's, and he was in X-Men 3, which takes place in the mid 00's... that makes him roughly 63 years old in X-Men 3. Kelsey Grammar was 51 when he played him in X-Men 3.

I guess it's plausible, if you figure that the Beast's transformation somehow allowed him to age a bit slower.

It's probably that whole Marvel sliding timeline at work. Who knows.
