It's no use. I can't look at any side-scrolling platform fighting games and think "This is just a straight-up rip-off of Smash Bros." I know Nintendo were not the first to make this kind of fighting game but now whenever I see games of this format I can't help but feel the developers are just scrounging off Smash Bros. popularity.

All the more reason why if Sega ever decided to make a Sega All-Star fighting game, I'd rather it be a direct sequel to Fighters Megamix than a platform fighter.

Agree. But I'd prefer if it's more like Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.
Akira Yuki and Selvaria were awesome and fun to play in that game.

Only Sega crossover fighting game I'm aware of is... Oh what was it called, the one with Namco and Capcom in it? I never played the game but YouTubing "Resident Evil × The House of the Dead" I found the chapter of such a crossover in that game and thought "Wow! that guys from Zombie Revenge and Resident Evil 1 meeting up and dealing with the same thing!"

Action RPG though, not fighting game.
