The I'm no longer a vegetarian post.
« on: May 06, 2010, 04:52:09 am »
Well, I won't be from tomorrow as I am throwing a BBQ party at my apartment.

It's been about 5-6 years I think but have decided that I can afford to buy the meat that has been made after the animal has been given a good quality of life, plus I really am into cooking so and have a few cookbooks that are more or less useless without cooking an animal.

I am starting with simple meats on Friday and am adding my own home made rubs and marinades (Teriyaki on salmon, fennel, cumin, salt and pepper on pork escallopes etc)
and am very looking towards eating a genuine homemade burger, rather than that from Quorn or Cauldron.

So, I need some suggestions from you meat eaters, if you could eat just ONE more meal with meat in it what would you have?
It could be takeaway food like dominos pizza, restuarant meals or home cooked, basically enlighten me to what I have been missing all these years!

Does shrimp or lobster count as meat in veg-head land? If it does, I'd have large amounts of grilled lobster.

They certainly do count as meat.
Nice suggestion, I've never tried Lobster, gives me a reason to make tarragon butter too.

Adult chickens. Well it does depend actually, I've never had it "plain" as I/my family always cook it with some form of curry so I am not sure how exactly it would taste without being cooked in curry.

Also I do love me some Lamb Duri, some tasty stuff that is.

Brazilian Picanha.

You eat it with the fat. It's my favorite meat! It tastes so good. Awfully bad for cholesterol though.

Be careful!

Your body hasn't digested meat in years, so you should eat only very small portions at a time when re-introducing it to your diet. Otherwise, you'll get sick.

Eat loads of meat, screw your body! You gotta eat at least 10 pounds of beef to grow a sizable tuft of chest hair. Be a man, don't get pushed around by the human body!

You got to get yourself sick or your a pussy. Pump it up. Go to KFC get the chicken sandwich made out of chicken instead of bread.

My little brother became a vegetarian when he was 10 years old.  He's now 33, and he has started eating fish and seafood within the last few months.  I think because his wife's family are farmers, and they probably think it's weird to be a vegetarian.  Anyway, any time he got some meat in his food, even accidentally like  grease or something, he used to get violently ill.  I would follow fluffy's advice.

Yeah, don't listen to the jokers. You could get violently sick if you eat too much meat all at once.

Start with something smaller and easier to digest, like chicken soup broth or a small slice of chicken sandwich meat. The leaner the meat, the better. Don't go for something dark.

Eat pork. Some febras never hurt anyone. They're light and delicious.

Oh right, I hadn't thought of that, thanks.

Also thanks for not turning this into a thread about how you like a big sausage!

Ziiing, that was pretty harsh, but to be expected!

I agree with Fluffy though. You really should start off with light broths and such before your BBQ. Have some small amount of meat every day until then.

Hehe... I know when to be serious, that's all. Your health was hanging in the balance, so I had to say something. ^_^

Agreed, white meat is the best. Turkey and/or chicken breast, especially.
