What's this Aliens Colonial Marines everyone keeps talking about?  It must be a great game.  We should all pay full price for it.

Surprised this hasn't been updated for Hero Bank and PSO2:E2's performance in Japan.
Big fan of Claymore, Miria in particular.

Currently playing Yakuza 0.

As I've mentioned in here 2014 may be the 'year of Sega console anniversaries' but it's not a profitable year for our beloved company.

Utakumi 575 - bombed
Puyo Puyo Tetris - failure
Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin! - Not really a failure but not a sucess either
Hero Bank - bombed
Phantasy Star Online 2 ep. 2 - bombed
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd - Not really a failure but not a sucess either

Our hope rely on sega's western games Sonic Boom and Alien: Isolation.
(also the atlus brand games).

Media Create says that SASRT in Japan hit 2300. Its PS3 version debuted at 19th of the top 20.

It's remarkably low but high sales weren't expected in the first place. The past few weeks of sales don't inspire a lot of confidence. The institution of the VAT hike is only a partial explanation. There have to be too few new strong sellers. Yo-kai Watch is good, but it's not great to see MK7 and Pokemon still there, I think.

Still, it's unfair a high quality game such as this one sells so few units.
I hope the "mouth-to-mouth" can improve its numbers.

Sega 1Q Results (April-June 2014):

http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/pdf/release/201503_1q_tanshin_final_e.pdf

Sales/Appendix: http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/pdf/release/201503_1q_tanshinhosoku_final_e.pdf

Resume:

Revenues up, profits down because lack of games released and investments maded for R&D.

Persona Q has shipped 250k units.

Mobile and digital games , especially PSO2, Chain Chronicle and Puyo Puyo Quest, remain strong to the market.

Also, two weeks before, they published their Q&A for FY2015:
http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/ir/library/pdf/settlement/2014/e_2014_4q_main_qa_e_final_.pdf

Resume:

-More investements in R&D in every side of the company. Expected strong sales and minor profits from that.

-Pushing forward through the digital conversion of existing package IPs, and expanded earnings in the digital games field with representative titles such as Phantasy Star Online 2, Puyopuyo!! Quest and Chain Chronicle.

-Expecting increasing in sales by Atlus Games and Alien Isolation.

-Assume a Group Structure Reform Division for the matters of business. Another restructure like 2008 in SOJ, guys.

I feel like I read the F2P Puyo Puyo did over 2 million.

Incidentally, I was curious what you guys thought Phantasy Star Online 2 will do to the brand. It's easily the most successful game in the series, and it's a series that became a major seller for Sega in Japan with the Portable games. Is PSO2 the peak, or does the series continue to grow?

The decline in profit is expected - they're beefing up their tech for the next gen, presumably. Over all, it seems like the company is doing well. I'm excited to see how Alien does. I'm also interested to see Sonic Boom's numbers - if they're an improvement over Lost World, in particular. I feel like the cartoon show is drumming up some interest.

The F2P Puyo Puyo has done over 9 millions right now, Japan loves this puzzle game.

I'm a recurrent player in PSO2 and I can tell you ,without a doubt, that this game can be around for 5 years more.

The amount of content and people playing this game daily, investing in every new AC Shop thing (DLC), buying Premium Pass is very big....it's like the success of Team Fortress 2 but in a minor scale (you now: F2P, Hats everywhere, new content, Premium Pass and also this game has been around since 2007-in 2010s became F2P).

We can expect a whole and vast new media for this game (Now with the Spin-off Nova is the beginning).

Sadly, I can se why this game hasn't been released in the West. It's too oriented to the JP audience and can alienated some people, even fans of the original. The profits of the game come from AC Shop and Premium Pass, but 60% of them are manga-anime stuff with collaboration (problem with licenses ).
And with the situation in the West, is very difficult right now.

I'm actually really glad that Sega's been so successful with PSO2. They're really getting their foot in the market over there in a big way. They've really been doing a great job supporting it, to be sure. They're on their third episode, right?

I wonder if they plan to release NOVA over here? There wouldn't be the same licencing issues, I wouldn't imagine.

The Episode 3 wil come in the end of August. Right now, there are a few new updates before the great patch and also we are doing all the 2nd Anniversary thing and quest.

The problem with taking Nova to the West is the relation with PSO2 that was announced before and people will argue about that.
