SEGA's 2013 Plans
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:41:12 am »
With 2012 coming to an end, at least in terms of SEGA releases, we now have 2013 to look forward to. Thus far the titles we know of are:

• Anarchy Reigns - Western release
• Aliens: Colonial Marines
• Bayonetta 2 (unless it isn't til 2014)
• Yakuza 5
• The Cave - Double Fine game
• 3 digital and 1 boxed Sonic titles
• 3D Space Harrier for 3DS, and potentially more?
• Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue HD rumored
• PSO2 - Western release
• Total War: Rome 2
• Football Manager 2014
• Virtua Striker and Virtual On for XBLA and PSN (unless they release this December)
• More Vintage Collections

Any titles you're especially looking forward to? What would you consider to be SEGA's big AAA title for 2013? Any other rumored releases?

No, it just reinforces how crap Sega has become, most of the games mentioned were part of 2012 schedule. And we all know by 2013/14 half  if not most of these games on the new release list will be shite digital games. By the way where's YAKUZA 5 on that list? ;)

Yakuza 5 is it gets a western release, which seems more unlikely than the previous games.

Not sure about anarchy reigns but i'll get it anyway since it's cheap.

Interested in how much effort is put into the next Sonic title of course. Hopefully it'll be something of quality and originality.

And if financial times are better for me around Bayonetta 2's release, I might get a wii u, but we'll see.

At the risk of being obvious, to me Yakuza 5 is the big AAA title.  I'm pretty sure it'll come out in the West.  The previous three in the series were managed well in the West, with reasonable expectations.  So they know it's not gonna be a blockbuster, but it's not a money-loser either.

Maybe not as important, but also slated for release:

- 7th Dragon 2020-II
- Demon Tribu (I can't shake that commercials narrator)

Word on "the street" is that Yakuza 5 just got a perfect 40/40 in Famitsu.

They're going to have to. Sega new strategy is now over reliant on TOTAL WAR, FOOTBALL MANAGER and SONIC bringing in the big bucks because their new digital releases/transition even the successful ones cannot possibly achieve the profits that the consumer were use to in the past.
They better hope that ALIENS CM does good business.

LOL! They only have this for the next year:

- Miku (PS3)
- 7th Dragon 3 (PSP)
- Shining Ark (PSP)

 and... nothing else. -____-

WTF!?!? I mean, WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!? They are not even bringing Sega Superstars Racing 2 to Japan... nothing.

 They are almost dead.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Vintage/Heritage collection games they have coming out. They've been doing a really excellent job on these lately.
Maybe some Saturn-era stuff.

2013 seems to be an odd duck, to say the least. Because many of the games that were originally meant to come out this year from several publishers got pushed into next year. Otherwise, 2012 would've been a much crowded year with much less dead space between major game releases. Also Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed III... What are you gonna do about 'em?

I expect SEGA to start making announcement from Febuary onwards.

I'm looking foward to Anarchy Reigns, as I've already pre-ordered it.
I am really, really hoping Skies of Arcadia HD turns out to be true. I mean, they already got three Sega Heritage titles out of the game, I hope SEGA's code monkeys are working on something.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is the one-to-watch.
