Title: Famitsu Readers Vote Sega and Persona 5 to Top
Post by: Betwixt Thieves on August 31, 2017, 11:28:14 pm
Check out the Famitsu reader vote for all time best game.

I love Persona 5, but I'm not sure about best game of all time. Still good to see Sega take the top spot in votes.

I was surprised to see Sonic Adventure 2 on the list. I knew Japan didn't have much love over the classic entries (especially in the 20's age group that seemed to dominate the poll), but I didn't think their love for the Dreamcast entries was that high.

Not surprised to see the Mega Drive is nowhere to be found..

Seriously makes me wonder why SOJ would botch any success SOA had with the Genesis in the America's, seeing how mediocre reception was for the Mega Drive in Japan.

Outside of arcade revenue - Sega was only making money from America and Europe during the early 90's.

Exactly why it baffles my mind as to why SoJ would push Kalinske's ideas to the side and try to appeal to a Japanese audience that hardly existed for them.

Because the audience began to exist when they launched Saturn.
I remember reading from Gamefan Magazine that Saturn was a huge success and number one console in Japan for some period
(at least until FF VII came along).
Sadly that's not the case for the rest of the world.

Sure it began to exist, but was no where along the same fan base as their western counterparts.

Why alienate the fan base that made you a powerhouse in the first place? Without NA, Sega would never have found success, period.
