Goji Rokkaku from Jet Set Radio showed up in Yakuza already.

:afroman: Wow, I missed that connection.. Where?

Quote from: "Aki-at"
Kazuma's parents were killed when he was closer to ten.

Okay, I think that would begin to shoot it down...

Goro Majima is the same Goro from the Yokosuka docks.

Yikes, he used to be so happy once..  :|

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

Really? I'm only up to chapter 5 or so of Yakuza 2, so don't tell me any more if it's after that!

I'm pretty sure he was in the first one, but didn't have a speaking role.

First off, they are not even from the same universe.
How can you be so sure?  :afroman:

Yeah! How can you be? They never mentioned their worlds are different worlds. Both lives in Japan, Tokyo.

Whatever, we already knows that Ryo dies at the end of the story, so why bother about him on Ryu Ga Gotoku?

And I think this is not a mere coincidence; Nagoshi was Suzuki's pupil and take a look at his games: all similar to Yu's productions(but cheaper).

It mentions on the Yakuza Wiki that
Quote
Goji Rokkaku

[1] The character Goji from Smilebit's (Sega) Jet Set Radio game -a.k.a. Jet Grind Radio- set in Tokyo-to makes an appearance.

But doesn't actually saw where or when...  :|

This site says

The PS2 game Yakuza features a cameo by Gouji Rokkaku. He is the leader of an organization , but does not have a speaking role.

It would be cool if both series took place in the same universe and if Yakuza made subtle references to Shenmue. It'd be like the old days were SEGA would tie the universes of seperate games together.

Like how Space Harrier and Fantasy Zone are connected. And in After Burner 2 where you see the OutRun couple drive by when you land on a road.

heck yeah, that is exactly what I'm talking about.  Not sure why people have to be so uptight about the universe thing.. it can just be kind of a low key reference to give a nod to Shenmue and please the fans.

Of course, Bayonetta references several Sega series and what do they all have to do with each other?

I still would like to see something like a mystery character for a chapter like, "a hooded master from Hong Kong" with a bunch of hints that it could be Ryo, but then kind of leave it in mystery.

Like I said, Yakuza 5 is going to need something fresh to keep the series relevant.  I think a female fighter is one obvious one.

I agree about keeping the series fresh, I disagree with just adding a female fighter.

Yeah addint a female character isn't really changing much at all, just an aesthetic change.

The idea of four different characters in Yakuza 4 and it's 'Lets make a fighter' side quests/missions sound like something more progressive.

Spike and Spike Jr(from SpikeOut) makes a cameo at the end of [PLANET HARRIERS]; they seen the harriers flying on the sky.

Well, there is already a female fighter in Ryu 2 and after the Bayonetta flops around the world, I doubt Sega will create another bitch as the main character of an action game that soon.

This will be probably the last game featuring Kiryuu as the main character.

But Bayonetta didn't fail. It did 1.1 million copies.
