Yeah, I think that was the response and they're not gonna further elaborate.

It's a pity, I was playing Hogwarts Legacy last night with my Saturn controller and found I preferred my XBox 360 controller. Six-buttons isn't always as best as four-buttons.

All I would want from a Dreamcast-PC controller would be:
  • The analogue stick to be the same mechanism as the original Dreamcast controller, not the drifty shit we have now.
  • A second analogue stick to be located between the Start Button and the ABXY buttons.
  • We don't need a C or Z button. Modern consoles we have today (XBox S/X, Switch, PlayStation 4) have four-button controllers, if Retro-Bit Sega fans want a six-button controller, they can buy the Saturn controller.
  • Shoulder buttons over the default trigger buttons.
  • Even if the VMU port is technically "useless", as long as it can recognise accessories such as the Jump Pack and Microphone.
Something like this, but with a Select button to the left of the Start Button and home above it.


If it isn't six-button controller then I'm definitely gonna skip it.
C and Z in the front are important for me for VS Fighting games.
Back then I really hate playing Street Fighter III Third Strike with two inputs being changed to the shoulder buttons and I'm still hating it now.





But that second analogue stick to be located between the Start Button and the action buttons would be really nice though.

If you want a six-button controller, then by all means get a six-button controller.
I'm not one for fighting games, I got my Sega Saturn Pro controller with games such as Sega Mega Drive Classics, Sonic Mania, Sonic Origins and Sonic Superstars in mind.

But what I'm after is pretty much a Dreamcast controller for modern PC and console gaming. So I would like it to be as much-like the original Dreamcast controller it can be. It's understandable to take into account modern functions such as shoulder buttons and right analogue sticks. But purely for the "Sega novelty" of it, rather have it the same action buttons as the original Dreamcast had. (Plus, there wouldn't be much room to fit the C and Z buttons... unless they're smaller than the others, or the action buttons are cramped together.)

I understand how pricey the Sega Saturn Pro controller is, but you can have more than one controller if you can afford it, and switch controllers for your preference in games. Heck, I played a bit of Hogwarts Legacy a few nights ago (I've been saving the "Mind Your Own Business" quest for October) and found I was more comfortable playing the game with my old XBox 360 controller than I was with my new Sega Saturn controller.

In fact, now that I remember (but probably going off-topic of Sega Saturn, if you want to redirect this conversation), I wonder if there is such thing as a "one-handed controller". It would be ideal for first-person shooting games for those who don't want to use the keyboard for movement and interaction.

Imagine something like the Wii nunchuk or a single VR hand controller to hold in your secondary hand that uses an analogue stick for movement and side buttons for jumping, crouching or other actions while with your primary hand still use the mouse to aim, shoot and, if scroll wheel or other mouse-buttons, change weapons.
(I even proposed this idea here on the Valve Index Controllers discussion board. No one has responded to the idea yet.)

I might have to settle for a joystick for the likes of that, but its clunky size would be somewhat impractical.

But if I had one of those, then that would be my preferred controller for playing my fave first-person shooting games with.

Street Fighter III TS on modern platforms are different with Dreamcast version.
The one in modern platforms are staright out from arcade without any change.
No new modes added.
The difficulty is also high (due its nature as arcade game) even in its lowest difficulty.
But still it's really better than nothing (looking at you Virtua Fighter 1-4).

I'm not one of those CoD-heads, Battlefront or whatever is the popular leading shooters these days. The First-person shooters I usually play are Fallout, Garry's Mod, sometimes Black Mesa and Half-Life, sometimes Team Fortress 2 if in the mood, and I've yet to crack into RoboCop: Rogue City.
I also sometimes like to play other First-person view games that aren't shooters such as puzzle or exploring games. The Old City: Leviathan and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter comes to mind.

From my experience PC-gamers are right that the mouse is the superior input when it comes to first-person view games. I never played Splatoon but even I'm curious how it became so popular with mouse-input.

But... PC-gamers who player FPS often play with keyboard, with WASD for forwards, backwards and strafing, and honestly, I prefer an analogue stick for more precise movement than WASD keys.

So having a one-handed controller such as a Nunchuk or a VR hand controller would offer the best of both worlds if used with your computer mouse.

And again, it's all about preference of the game. If you want to use a six-button controller for a fighting game, or you prefer those extra buttons for gaming in general, I understand and respect that.

It's tempting but it's still too expensive here in Indonesia so for now I'm still sticking to Saturn controller (using Total Control 3 adapter to play it in Dreamcast).

If those two games are somethings you love so much and playing those games only is enough to satisfy your gaming needs, then nothing's waste of money.
Of course I doubt that will be the case for THotD and Virtua Cop, rarely someone put those games as the most favorite games.
Back then I changed my smartphone to Iphone just so that I could play the exclusive game Bookworm Heroes against my friends.
I only play that game at that time, no other games mattered.
Too bad the game was dead months later but I really had fun.
