I really would just prefer they use the same or very similar assets. I mean, making the best graphics games will see for 6+ years is one thing, but doing it all over again does not make much sense for a game they know would not be a huge seller.

And I would probably get it on all available platforms, but I would prefer it on the Xbox 360 myself. Dreamcast stuff just fits perfectly with the platform, even the controller is very similar.

Kind of off topic, but one of my favorite things about Shenmue is how you can slightly hold down on the right trigger to walk while you look around with the left analog stick. I mean, walking slowly while looking around in all directions is something everyone does when they are touring a place, and Shenmue is literally the only game I can think of that does it. I could not imagine doing this with that Goddamn R2 trigger-stub thing the PlayStation 3 has.

Yup. ^

But with the right marketing and people lining up to see what the years upon years of fuss is about is bound to pique at least some interest. I think sales would be considerably higher. Maybe not enough to constitute another game or a AAA release, but higher than Shenmue II ever did.

I think one of the biggest mistakes Sega made was putting Shenmue II on the Xbox.  At the time, it seemed to make some sense.  It appeared that most western Dreamcast owners were making the switch to the Xbox.  Naturally, a lot of the Dreamcast-esque hardcore games found their way over to it.

I think Sega and Microsoft misjudged just how many Sega fans would purchase both Xbox and Shenmue II (or how many original Xbox owners would take to Yu's sequel).

Nevertheless, the style and substance of Shenmue just screamed to be put on PS2--I think it would have sold pretty well in Japan, and couldn't have sold any less than it did for western markets (the install base alone in Europe, North America, and Japan could have helped give the game a wider audience).

Though I suppose when you see an advertisement like this with the impending release of the game, you have to scratch your head: ...So, when they killed your father--that wasn't personal enough?  :|

It's a joke, and it's hard to understand a good portion of it due to the camera being far from the stage.

Though Yu does appear at the end to talk, but not spoiling Shenmue 3.

I was also worried the end was leaked and I'd have to spend the rest of my life trying to dodge the bullet.

As it turns out in the end Ryo DOES hoverboard to the States for the Forklift Gran Prix to maximize his tree-punching technique.

Also, that's actually Yu Suzuki doing the narration I think.

EDIT: It seems the vid was removed.. It was funny though..

Quote from: "Barry the Nomad"
Oh yeah, I'm all for multiplatform, but if it means the game going exclusive in order to receive additional funding and be made, I'm all for that too. Of course, being a 360 owner, I lean 360 when it comes to exclusivity preference, but like TA said, Shenmue's main market is the US and Europe. And in the US, 360 is king.

Oh if a Shemue III was ever to be made, the last thing I want, would for it to be an exclusive and there for turn in to a Fanboy flame war and give so many another excuse to stick the boot into SEGA. The game is far too important for that, make it Multi Platform 360/PS3  and give people the chance to play it , be they 360 or PS3 owners

Yu doesn't tend to talk like this unless something is planned. Maybe the dream will come true

Yeah I am a little worried that, he is using this kind of shenmue 3 talk to get everyone excited about Shenmue World...

Its good publicity and gets everyone talking.

I'd like to think Yu Suzuki is above that though.

Well, it's all cyclical, ain't it?  He gets people hyped for ShenmueTown, which in turn provides empirical evidence for the potential fanbase of Shenmue III.
