That was an awesome game. I first played the PC version but the magic was still there. I wish we got a remake or wait, remaster. I would be afraid they would change too much attempting to recreate the game. Although I wonder, would it still hold gamers' attention if the graphics was remastered but the gameplay left untouched? That was the gist, the joy. But times have changed significantly, and people, in general, prefer easier solutions.

Actually my first Golden Axe was PC version (DOS) too. Played it on my IBM PC XT.  ;-D
The graphic was using CGA at the time, but it's still more impressive among other DOS games that I had.

Ben Fiquet (Wonder Boy Dragon's Trap and Streets of Rage 4 lead artist) few months ago posted a Golden Axe artwork in his website.
A tease or may be still just an interest for Golden Axe remake? Either way I'm in.  :)

Golden Axe Sequels Retrospective

Quote
Even if you see Beast Rider as a misstep for the franchise, there’s no question that Golden Axe holds a special place in quite a few gamers’ hearts.
With the proper execution, I have no doubt that SEGA could bring back the Golden Axe franchise in a big way.
If SEGA could develop a Golden Axe title similar to the Arcade and Genesis games, I’m positive it would do pretty well.
Many people like the Golden Axe games for the the co-op aspect, so bringing this back would be essential.

Golden Axe: The Duel composer, Kazuhiko Nagai, shares Ghostbusters and Rambo III Music Demo Tracks.
The tracks are labeled as rough sketches and “maybe rejected”, with Nagai providing his best guess at times for what the intention of the track was.

I have played Golden Axe before, but based on the photos, this new version is giving me Dragon Age vibes for some reason. It also looks a bit like Conan Exiles. I guess there have been a lot of third person medieval games and not so many third person games in other genres besides GTA clones. I wish CyberPunk 2077 was third person because of how you create your own character. I mean, what's the point of creating a character if you never get to see them?

You meant GA Beast Rider, right? Gameplay-wise basically they're the same : hack and slash.
Medieval games are usually only using limited weapons (sword, axe), unlike modern setting which could use various guns.
Also the graphic : they are all look browny. Almost all is brown (clothes, lands, rocks, trees, mountains, buildings).
If there is another sequel of Golden Axe later, I would prefer if graphically they're as colorful as Dragon's Crown :

I wish CyberPunk 2077 was third person because of how you create your own character. I mean, what's the point of creating a character if you never get to see them?

Because people love to customize their character (like on PSO2).
But, yeah, they're really unnecessary  third person game.  ;-D

SEGA Australia’s pre-alpha prototype pitch for Golden Axe remake

Quote
Seems that the studio pitched for a series of remakes, most notably ‘Golden Axe’ and all to be in a new label called ‘SEGA Reborn’.
That’s not all though, the company thought that all these classics should take place in the same universe.
Yes, we are talking about Marvel movie treatment with retro games.
That would mean that a game like Out Run takes place hundreds of years after Golden Axe.
