There are far more Shinobi games than you may know! This is the complete history of videos games greatest ninja!

I couldn't watched the video right now in my office,
but is it more complete than the Harcoregaming101 article?
Since the article even included the two Asian mobile version games.

Edit : Just watched it. Ok, it's more complete since it contains  The LCD version of Shinobi.

Pity we never got the arcade System 18 ver. of Shadow Dancer at home.

Indeed. It would have been cool to have a two-pack that contained the original arcade Shinobi and the arcade Shadow Dancer for the Genesis, or to be arcade-perfect, the Saturn.

The Master System version of Shadow Dancer is actually quite faithful to the arcade version. Unfortunately it omits some of the stages, probably in order to squeeze it into a two mega cartridge. But the sprites and backgrounds seem to be adapted directly from the coin-op.

Honestly, I'd never heard of the game 'Shadow Dancer' until the spring of 1990.  I first learned of Shadow Dancer's existence
where I read a question about it published in EGM's Interface: Letters To The Editor.

Developer Retrospective: A look back at the games of SEGA’s Overworks

Despite being generally well received by critics, Shinobi (2002) is notoriously difficult.
While the first few stages are quite easy, eventually players encounter stages that run longer than ten minutes in length with zero checkpoints in place and instant deaths over bottomless pits requiring expert platforming.
In addition to this, Hotsuma’s soul consuming blade also drains him of his energy, meaning players must constantly be killing foes to survive.

Yutaka Sugano directed and designed the very first Shinobi as well as CrackDown on the System 16 arcade hardware.
Like Ooka, he also stuck around at Sega, but mainly in the background.
He went overseas to assist on Sonic titles like Sonic 2 and Spinball, and then produced titles in Europe that came from Japan
 – like the The House of the Dead arcade port that was made in Europe.

Shinobi’s tribute to After Burner

Quote
An entire stage of the game takes place within the bowels of After Burner’s aircraft carrier, as Jiro Musashi fights off the invading forces of Zeed.
As the level reaches its end things reach their climax, as Jiro hops aboard an F-14 and…the After Burner theme begins to play.
What follows is probably one of the coolest and most unexpected team ups in gaming history as Jiro Musashi and the After Burner jet work together to fight off the forces of Zeed in a crazy ninja battle slash aerial dogfight.

SEGA Game Gear Micro Hardware Review – Bite-Sized Nostalgia

Quote
The RED Game Gar Micro is the most attractive of the bunch, and the color is based off of three original Game Gears: a basic red, a Coca-Cola branded red and a Magic Knight Rayearth red.
The game selections suggest that the original red model was the inspiration, as there is no Magic Knight Rayeath to be found.
Instead, the game lineup includes the ATLUS developed Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible, its followup Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special, The GG Shinobi and Columns.
It’s difficult for me to suggest the red model to anybody but hardcore ATLUS or Shinobi fans.
Unless you are buying the four Micro bundle, I would say pass on importing solely the red model.

The Limited Run version of the SEGA Astro City Mini will only be limited to 3,500 units, which will probably make this version sought after in the collectors market compared to the regular Japanese version.

Shinobi is only on PlayStation 2 (physically) or PlayStation 3 via PSN, as much as I like the PlayStation 2, its picture quality is terrible.
I’d highly suggest playing it on the PlayStation 3 since it also cleans up the picture quite a bit.

I think cameo if he only showed up for a brief moment.
But in this game he and the ghosts showed up all the time at the later levels.

60hz Normal Game Speed Hack of Shinobi X - Shin Shinobi Den (Sega Saturn)

Quote
This hack converts the 50hz PAL release of Shinobi X - Shin Shinobi Den (aka Shinobi Legions) to run at 60hz NTSC, with normal game speed.
This release of the game contains a new soundtrack in the style of Yuzo Koshiro’s contributions to The Revenge of Shinobi.
You will need a Redump compliant copy of the game and emulator or ODE capable of running CUE/BIN dumps.
It is verified to work on a JP VA0 Model 1 with Fenrir 20-pin, JP Model 2 Saturn with Satiator, and SSF R26.
Lunar IPS was used to create the patch and test on unmodified copies.

Intriguingly this started out as a side-project for Dias.
Way back in January 2017 he posted initial progress on the outerspace.com forum, with an early version of stage 1-1 completed at that time.
It now seems to be a fully-fledged project in the JoyMasher team. On the studio's own YouTube channel, which seems to be mostly used for in-progress videos as opposed to trailers and promotion, there are multiple videos of Moonrider in the form of stage previews and soundtrack clips.

Or make them separated.

Shinobi in Wild West World
Shinobi in Atlantic World
Shinobi in Greek Mythologies World

Sound great, right?

I always like bosses in Shinobi games :

Yes, kinda sad since Shinobi was the first true ninja platformer experience in arcade.
Shinobi's coming first in 1987, while Ninja Gaiden's in 1988.

Also people tend to forget that Ninja Gaiden started as a beat em up game.
Ninja who punches and kicks the enemies openly.

Yeah what sucks is Sega were founders to video game genres that are still being used to this day, but the founding games are mostly backseated to the modern audience.

For example, you like popular fighting games like Tekken, Dead or Alive or SoulCalibur? You have Virtua Fighter to thanks for that.

Not very Ninja-like is it? Sounds like Ninja Gaiden was trying to rip off Streets of Rage. Then Sega made an even better ninja game and NG ripped off Shinobi. But the rip-off ended up more popular than Shinobi.

Yes, but very minor.
It's just basically they're saying hi to each other and then fight.
Story's still focused on DOA characters.

I know, just  Iwouldn't mind a proper story mode for Virtua Fighter. There is stories written in the manuals and some sort of over-arching story throughout the game involving a group of contenders conflict with the J6 but that's about it.

This is why Tekken and DOA are more popular than Virtua Fighter, because these franchises fleshed out their fighters into interesting people than just fighters.

Agree, it's harder to get attached to the characters if there's no story involved.
Virtua Fighter depict the fighters mostly stereotypical to a fault.

Akira Yuki is super-serious kung-fu fighter.
Jacky Bryant is hotheaded, sporty fighter. I think he is friends with Akira. This is only evident in S&SASR.
Sarah Bryant is Jacky's sister. I think she's a model? I dunno, that's all I know of her.
Pai Chan is sterotypical chinese fighter lady. Her personality is daddy issues and maybe crush on Akira Yuki but I dunno.
Lau Chan is Pai's dad. I think he's all serious martial arts instructor. Maybe business man I think, if he is probably something to do with J6 but I don't know.
Kage Maru is a ninja. I think he's looking for his mother.
Wolf Hawkfield is a wrestler. He's from Canada.
Jeffry McWild is just a burly australian. I didn't know he was a fisherman until later.
Dural is a gynoid-like being created by the evil organization Judgement Six. She is programmed to fight with an amalgamation of various moves from fighters throughout the game. Beating her ends with a cutscene showing that she was actually Kage Maru's mother all along revealing she was a cyborg. Dural returns in future games, either a cyborg victim of other women or her own robot. Eitherway Dural has more established backstory in the games than any other fighter.

I know Virtua Fighter games added more characters, but other than the summery of backstory provided to them what else do you know about them?

It's more evident is the anime when the show went ahead and turned Akira Yuki into a Goku-like goof, which is probably the right thing to do given Akira's original personality is "Shut up, I'm training."

Meanwhile, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Street Fighter hell even Fatal Fury get's story modes in their games as well as TV series, video specials and even cinematic movies now and again which thoroughly expands on each and every characters personality. Their motivation and why these characters are more than their stereotype.
Title: Re: Shinobi: The Complete History
Post by: Berto on September 26, 2021, 10:01:25 am
Yeah, all of their backstory I only knew from anime, magazines, and game's manual book.
Nothing from the game (not counting game gear version since it's basically from anime).

Outside from the anime I only know these (from magazine and manual book) :

1. I remember reading in magazine that deep inside Sarah hates Jacky for being overprotective.
That's why she's kinda easy to be brainwashed into fighting him (compared to Vanessa) since the root is already there.
That's rather different in anime. They're super close in the anime.

2. Akira is defeated by Kage-Maru in fourth tournament and having a breakdown for a while.

3. Jeffry is searching for his rival (Devil Shark) that has been kidnapped by J6.

4. Pai realizes that Lau didn't have long to live and finally respect his desire to pursue ultimate strength.

5. Eileen kinda had a crush on Pai. (If this game was on Switch, I'd definitely put the game in this thread (http://segabits.com/forums/index.php?topic=4600.0)). She enters the tournament in order to get to close to her.

6. Lei Fei's goal is to defeeat Lau to see the secret of Ko'en-ken.

7. Aoi is the type of a girl who get frustated easily every time she loses. The only way to get rid of her frustation is by entering tournament and fight again.

8. Goh is ordered by J6 to kill someone in tournament but his plan is ruined by Dural's appearance and hates Dural since then.

9. Kage is just like what you said. To save the soul of his mother.

10. Lion enter the tournament to learn about his father's involvement with J6.

11. Brad is a playboy but her preference is strong women. That's his motivation to enter the tournament.

12. Shun Di is searching for his student that has been kidnapped by J6.

13. Lau is ready to face the last fight of his life.

14. El Blaze is feeling jealous in Wolf's victories in the heavyweight division. He wanted to surpass him.

15. Wolf saw a small mark on Dural's body that was very similar to symbol he had seen in his nightmares. He wanted to know what it was.

16. Vanessa volunteered herself to protect Sarah from J6 but then got back to Jacky's house unconscious and some memory of hers was missing. Probably J6 tried to brainwwashed her but failed and she escaped. She enters the fifth tournament in order to get a clue what happened.

17. Jacky wanted to destroy J6 so that Sarah could live a normal life. After what happened to Vanessa, he enters the fifth tournament to help her too.

The reason of fighting for each character indeed exists. SEGA is just too lazy to put in the game.

Because some of these magazines were not available to me I didn't even know half these stories.

I though SHun Di was just a chill drunk who got involved in the tournamebnt because she wanted something to do.

But yeah imagine if Sega actually bothered with a propper storymode to tie all these characters together!

Before reading about him, I though he was Lau's buddy.
Just like in Virtua Fighter anime.
He seems to know a lot about Lau in the anime.

Khinsider Has Removed 500+ Albums Related to Sega

"Segapocalypse!
Wave Master, the company that manages Sega's music, has contacted me and asked me to remove lots of albums related to Sega.
At the end of the day, over 500 albums were removed, including Sonic, OutRun, and others.
Unfortunately, this even included fan made compilation albums for games that have no commercial releases, which, quite frankly, makes absolutely no sense.
If you were wondering why some albums have disappeared on the site, this is why."

I remembered one scene in the anime where Pai got mad when she remembered Lau abandoning her sick mother.
And then Shun Di conformed her, saying because there is nothing Lau could do anyway.
Lau knows her wife couldn't be cured and isolated himself in training to overcome his own anger and sadness.
He knows that Pai would take care of her better than him in her final days.

Yeah but that's the anime. They may have been inaccurate with some characters (Akira Yuki) but they still put effort in storytelling where Sega themselves skipped out on.

Decompress the zip file using 7zip for example:  https://www.7-zip.org/

- Please remember the double jump (works only when as Ninja), just press the jump button again when Dan is in the decent phase of a normal jump.
- Please also play in Easy mode if you are not familiar with games like Shinobi. It's called "Rising Ninja" in the options menu, you can change the difficulty there.
- You can modify the controls in the options menu
- You can use the demo file (CDI) on a GDEMU on a real Dreamcast, or burn it to a CDR and use it too, or use a good emulator, I have been using Demul:  http://demul.emulation64.com/

Any issues please let me know. Feedback always welcome. Thank you.

Sega really should do more wit htheir Classic-era IPs. We need Shinobi.

They already did it 2 years ago in SEGA Ages,
and I kind of love it back then.
But the sale wasn't that good,
it was still far below SEGA Ages: Puyo Puyo, Outrun, and Virtua Racing.

I heard Dotemu (Streets of Rage 4) has pitched Shinobi sequel,
but SEGA hasn't agree yet.
They even failed to put Joe in Streets of Rage 4.

Quote
Although they pursued use of Joe Musashi from Shinobi,
the licensing, different departments, and various permissions necessary to use a character like Joe Musashi made including him as a bonus playable character impossible.

As for Sega's reluctance for a Shinobi remake, I dunno. Maybe licencing problems?

That's depended on M2 too.
Seems like SEGA's not willing to do SEGA AGES / 3D Classic series without them and right now M2's still busy with their shmup reproduction and Shot Trigger series, at least until next two years.

Nah, while it was hard, it's fun to explore.
I'll hate it if it's gone.
It's kinda easier to track that hundred stairs because it's 2D.
Okay, definitely I'm lying about easy part, but it's doable because it's 2D.

Phantasy Star II, III, IV are like Final Fantasy & Dragon Quest
but Phantasy Star I is like Shining in The Darkness.

Indeed, since her name was only Kurumi, may be they could name her Kurumi Musashi?
Or if not, make her meet and marry a guy from Musashi clan,

Also another trivia : her latest appearance was on Nintendo Switch.

For example, I always imagine Joe Musashi half-japanese. His mother could be Kurumi Musashi who married an American and why their son has an American sounding name. Joe could struggle being half-american in the Oboro clan but eventually became the best ninja they had.

Just like Alex Kidd. Demoted too in SEGAGAGA.

Kinda hard now to change Joe's father since Shinobi 3DS was already starring his father, Jiro Musashi.

Setting up his mother is more likely.
How about Sarah Krieger (https://shinobisega.fandom.com/wiki/Sarah_Krieger) as his mother?
It would make Joe Musashi as a half-japanese too.

It's actually started as a fan game but somehow when the developer showed it to SEGA,
to their surprises SEGA gave them a blessing to make it an official game.

There is an interview about it here but it got removed :
https://acertainkindofgamer.com/2018/06/19/remake-alex-kidd-in-miracle-world-an-interview-with-the-devs-narehop-josyanf1/
But I believe it was still archived somewhere.

Whoops.. this thread's started to derail again to Alex Kidd now (before were to Virtua Fighter and Phantasy Star, lol)
Okay, as for Shinobi, I don't think there's Shinobi fan game that's outstanding enough to get SEGA's blessing.

Not yet for now. Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX Review is kinda mixed (https://www.metacritic.com/game/switch/alex-kidd-in-miracle-world-dx).
While the new graphic and the new music are great,
the transitioning between modern mode and classic mode isn't as smooth as Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap.
Classic mode is kinda different with the original game which made gamers who memorized the original game kinda unhappy.
I still don't know whether this game sold well enough to guarantee a new entry or not.

Well, Sega's rather do or die when it comes to this. Alex Kidd really needs this revival, but if the numbers are not high enough... it's dead to them.

I'm still bitter at how a game as perfect as Rhythm Thief never get another chance again

Done. 2016 version by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel but still never materialized even until today.

Rumour said it was supposed based on Shinobi's Genesis Game.
Dunno which one... Revenge, Shadow Dancer, or III.

2016, oof!

I'd settle for a Shinobi movie that has a budget just over Enter the Ninja.

Yes. And while I know ninja-fame has passed since the last five decades I'd still like a Shinobi movie that captures the charm this movie had.

Kind of like what the Sonic movies did. In a way the movies had that campy millenial vibe to it while still being a modern movie appealing to todays audience.

Besides, who can't deny the absolute quality of acting Enter the Ninja had?

Looking back at my detest for Naruto, I always thought Naruto was a stupid and inaccurate portrail of ninja, especially ninjas that shout on the top of their lungs or announce themselves let alone wearing colourful attractive garments.

But then again, my knowledge of ninja is how Hollywood portrait it to me. Even I know ninjas can't vanish in a cloud of smoke or turn into logs or such.

The thing with Naruto and some ninja movies : they treat Ninja / Shinobi as some kind of superhero.
Different ninja with different power to show off.
That's not what Ninja is supposed to be.

SEGA described it best what Ninja / Shinobi is in Sakura Taisen :

"To remain hidden.
That's what Shinobi means.
Those who execute their mission undetected."

I agree. Ninja are awesome but we shouldn't glorify the fact they are assassins. I do know a bit about real ninja. From what I understand the first ninjas were peasants who had enough of the tyrannical lords and shogans that rule over them. So they learned to use the everyday farming tools for weapons, how to be efficient and sneaking and murdering their targets. In a way a samurai is a trained warrior in armour while the ninja goes for the gaps in the armour and forego armour to be light on their feet. Over time these clans of killer farmers stylized their martial arts into ninjitsu and became assassins. I don't know if ninja's had clans or if these clans were like the middle-eastern Order of Assassins but folklore and later Hollywood make ninjas seem able to pull off tricks like vanishing in a cloud of smoke or to turn into a log or dummy. I imagine it's possible for magicians but I dunno if ninjas actually pulled off any tricks similar to Las Vegas magicians.

Well, Ninja's also like a spy so they're always known could disguise themself as anything.
By anything of course they meant anyone, they could disguise as farmer, beggar, or merchant.
But some story's taking too far with "anything" by making them could turned into a log or shadow.

Well, Ninja's also like a spy so they're always known could disguise themself as anything.
By anything of course they meant anyone, they could disguise as farmer, beggar, or merchant.
But some story's taking too far with "anything" by making them could turned into a log or shadow.

That makes sense. I'm sure ninjas still wore kabuki given how practical they look, but makes sense they will need to do stake outs in broad daylight where the kabuki would be a dead give away.

May be that's why Joe Musashi decided to wear white.
Because he's operating in a broad daylight.

I think so to, would make sense.

Could also be it simply conceals his identity even if he is noticeable. Superhero mask/costume rules etc.

The Japanese titles for Mega Drive Shinobi series is actually SUPER SHINOBI.
That's right, not just a mere Shinobi but a SUPER one.
So I guess he really went superhero route by changing it to white
(his costume is still black in the original Shinobi).

Handheld gaming is more than a compromise of power and portability. Whether it’s the ability to play anywhere, multitask or hold an entire console in your hands, it’s a special experience consoles have never replicated.
In a world where high resolutions and teraflops reign supreme, we take a look at a portable relic every month and reflect on what makes it memorable.
Joe Musashi is one gaming’s most famous shinobi, and he made his handheld debut on The G.G. Shinobi.
The G.G. Shinobi takes on a Mega Man inspired approach to progressing through the game
The use of different color-coded shinobi opened up new strategies which was a welcome way to bring variety to the gameplay that was otherwise standard fare for Shinobi titles.

I prefer him as just "shinobi". They could of called the game "Ninja" but instead used a less common word for ninja as if being a "shinobi" means something over than being a regular ninja. As in why be a soldier when you can be a knight sort of thing.

Plus, I prefer it without the "super" because that would give him and his abilities more of an air of mystery. He "might" be mortal, he certainly has unique abilities, but unconfirmed if he's superhuman or enhanced in anyway.

Kind of like Batman given he's on par with most of the superheroes in the Justice League but is entirely human.

SEGA already have "The Ninja" though so "Shinobi" title could be picked so that fans won't be confused about which is which.

Also about "Super Shinobi",
Remember that he fought Batman and Spider-Man in Revenge?

Not to mention Hulk-like, Godzilla-like, and Terminator-like enemy.
It's like the game was designed to be the fight between "Super" Heroes.

Spider-man and Batman were the same enemy though. I imagine Zeed manage to raid Hollywood studios of costumes and animatronics that they weaponize and use against Musashi.

I mean, if Shinobi were to ever get a remake with an overhauled story, I can't imagine all these licensed characters returning. Thevery least knock-off versions of them.

I don't think so, the timeline is too different (The Ninja is set on feudal Japan).

Spider-man and Batman were the same enemy though.

Not after the revision though.
SEGA had a license for Spider-Man (they made a game based on him too) so they make it's a real Spider-Man on the revision.

Old version : Spider-Man morph into Batman.

New version : After battle with Musashi, Spider-Man then realized Musashi isn't a bad guy so he just leaves.
Yes, just leave though, not helping him fight the boss after him.

They changed it again to a pink ninja boss in the Virtual Console / Genesis Collections version since the license's expired.

I have the Mega CD classic collection and back then always wondered why they mentioned Spider-Man on the back cover.
I never played the game far so I didn't know that we'd have Spider-Man boss in the later level.

SEGA also had a license for Batman, but turned out it's just for a movie version of Batman (and Batman Returns later).
That's why they have to change him.

Yeah, especially Spider-Man was Sony's property in movie now, it will be too expensive and not worth it.

It was confusing why genuine heroes would want to fight Joe Musashi. I mean, I can understand if they mistake him for a bad guy but you'd think there be more context behind it.

I would love to see an official comic that fills in the context behind these fights.
Yeah, especially Spider-Man was Sony's property in movie now, it will be too expensive and not worth it.
Yeah if Paramount were to have held onto the Marvel Cinematic Universe just a bit longer we might have had Tom Holland's Spider-Man versus Sega/Paramount's Joe Musashi. That be trippy as heck.

Could be if SEGA wanted to.
The protagonists don't have the surname, just Kazamaru and Kasumi.
They could make one of them as Musashi : Kazamaru Musashi or Kasumi Musashi.
But so far none of the connection has been mentioned or hinted by SEGA.

Many superhero vs superhero story usually relies on misunderstanding, so this one is not different than that.
Many evil Ninjas suddenly show up in the city and the Spidey assumed Musashi as the boss since he dressed as ninja and has different color compared the others.

Musashi would beat Tom Holland Spider-Man though since he's now lost access to Stark's technology.

I remember my friend ask me to accompany her to watch this movie with her since the she loved the main cast.
I was skeptical at first since the main cast is a famous Asian singer but his acting is good and the movie is turned out pretty great for a ninja movie.
The way those ninja enemies whisper and stalk are really creepy.

They could keep the rating kids friendly if the enemies changed into robots.
Ninja robots like TMNT's Foot Soldiers.
Tokusatsu and superhero movies also usually do that.
Slashing human is taboo but slashing robots is okay.

I checked out some other ninja movies and I watched Ninja (http://y2u.be/3Io-Hfflq8k). The first 15 minutes were kinda tacky and for a movie called Ninja it only had two fully-robed ninjas, the later ninja only showing up in the final battle of the movie.

I've yet to see it's sequel Ninja II: Shadow of a Tear (http://y2u.be/Dxmal-7WmyA). These movies aren't as violent or as dark as Ninja Assassin, but still not afraid to show blood, just not gallons of it like Ninja Assassins had. If we ever get a Shinobi movie, I would love it to meet mid-way between these two movies.

Also, I just found out Enter the Ninja was the first of a trilogy so I'll watch them.

I wouldn't recommend 2009 Ninja movie and judging by the trailer to Shadow of a Tear I'm not that sold to commit to watch the sequels. Not enough ninjas if you ask me and that Namiko girl annoys me. For her training as the daughter of the sensei, complete damsel in distress material that it annoys me. It looks like she dies in Shadow of a Tear just to motivate the plot. That wasn't a spoiler, that's in the trailer!

I'd rather stick to Cannon Film's Ninja Trilogy. Even if Ninja III: The Domination was sub par.

I dunno what American Ninja I and II is like.

I watched those American Ninja movies but since it was long time ago other than V I forgot what's the story about.
V is memorable to me because it has Pat Morita in it.

If you don't mind Japanese ones, no masks, and non-modern setting, there are two :

The first is Shinobi : Heart Under Blade

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KI7YVeFf3Ho (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KI7YVeFf3Ho)

It's more battle of Ninja clan though, not a story about single Ninja fulfilling his mission.
They use every tricks necessary to make their clan is the best one.

The second is : Azumi

The story began with several students whose trained to be Ninja.
Later they learned the hard way that their job later was not just regular "Spying" ninja, but as "Assassins" Ninja.
It has a sequel (Azumi 2) but not as good as the first one.

Shadow Dancer - 3 Hitpoint Patch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnfcN7T-Icc

Quote
A improvement patch to the Genesis version of “Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi.” The original game has one-hit kills, but now your character can take three hitpoints of damage.
Hitpoints are displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.

How embarrassing to be Japanese, to be raised ninja and be the only person in the whole world to not know what a ninja does for a killing.

My answer is kinda spoiler so you could skip it if you want to...

Well.. killing enemies is one thing...
They are prepared for that.
But what about killing a whole village full of innocent villagers?
The reason?
Nothing.
Just to prove loyalty to your clan / Master.
That's all.

Ooh. Kissasian is back. Nice.
I thought the site's already gone with kissmanga and kissanime.
There's loads of copy-cat sites of the "Kiss" sites. I dunno how many Kiss site types are in total.
The ones I know are:
I've heard of "KissManga" but given the sites I found are a different format to ReadComicOnline I don't think they're the same host.
Because of that know the sites I listed out may not be from the same hosts. And while they appear safe to me, browse them and other supposed Kiss sites with caution.

Now, it may say you should disable your ad-blocker, at least on KimCartoon, but I'd say keep it on or you'll be deleting 3-5 ads just to pause the videos.

It would be nice if there were more Kiss-variety of sites, especially ones not banned in my country.

The ones I know are:
  • KimCartoon (Either a clone of KissCartoon or it's successor.)
  • KissAnime (The one O used to use is closed down so I moved onto 9Anime)
  • KissTVShow (which only does Asian television.)
  • KissAsian (Movies)
  • KissHen- actually you can guess that one. That's for after hours.
  • ReadComicOnline which is set up like a Kiss site.

I only know one, Adikfilm, but they use Indonesian subtitles.

Anime about ninja that I recommend is "Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls".
The story's kinda dark though, unlike Naruto.
It is an adaptation of Futaro Yamada's novel "The Kouga Ninja Scrolls".

That "Shinobi: Heart Under Blade" movie was also adapted from that novel,
although the characters are highly altered due to its limited running time (97 minutes).

So in Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed, Joe Musashi has a stage theme for Seasonal Shrines and All-Star Move.

The seasonal Shrine theme is called "Idaten ~ Japonesque"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGN10_BJDSM
This theme is actually based on a soundtrack from Shinobi III
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVmaou-eQfY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVmaou-eQfY)

His All-Star Move theme is actually "Patience" from 2002 Shinobi.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfLG8Kv_b2w (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfLG8Kv_b2w)

I find these choice of soundtrack for Joe kind of pecuilar, especially the 2002 game which was a reboot that he just cameod in.

I'm curious what you would choose as Joe Musashi's definite theme and why?

My choice would be Shinobi - BGM 1 given most may find it familiar with the series.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha70rE-xs3w (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha70rE-xs3w)

That and the first Shinobi game never had an opening theme.

DOS version (the one I played most back then) has an opening theme so I always assume other has one too.

If I had to choose as Joe Musashi's definite theme, I'll choose Shinobi - BGM 1 too.
It's the most memorable for me.
But I understand why Racing Transformed didn't use this.
Shinobi - BGM 1 feels like a stealth mission song while Idaten feels like a "run and finish it fast" mission song.

They could of always used another sound track from the game more fitting for an All-Star Move.

The big difference between Shinobi 3 and its prequels,
Joe Musashi could run now.
Making him run is fun
and changing the gameplay from stealthy to fast action is reflected on the music.
That's why for racing games I think the music fits better.

If it's olympic or fighting games,
then probably I'd choose from 3DS version.

For fighting games I'd probably chose Trickshot:

And for Olympic games I'd choose its main theme:

Yeah, but I don't think SEGA is ever having collaboration with Ubisoft.
It'll have a higher chance to colab if it was Japanese company like Nintendo or BandaiNamco.

Well I always imagine Shinobi being a Japanese (or the very least half-Japanese) ninja in eighties to modern New York.

Assassins Creed: Red will probably take place in Feudal Japan.

SEGA planned to divide the series back then.
Shinobi 3 and beyond will take place in Japan
(past, present, and even future)
while Shadow Dancer is the one that will take place in New York.

If there is, given the story's happened in 1866, it wouldn't be Joe or Musashi.
Jiro is most likely but I doubt he will be in it since most people don't know him given his game is 3DS exclusive.

If there is, given the story's happened in 1866, it wouldn't be Joe or Musashi.
Jiro is most likely but I doubt he will be in it since most people don't know him given his game is 3DS exclusive.

I was thinking just have the Shinobi uniform as an unlockable and that's it. Don't even need to refer to Jiro or Joe. It could be called "Shinobi unform" and say it's what a legendary ninja from the Oboro Clan wear or something.

It would be cool ... if they can at least got permission from who had ever worked on Shinobi or their original creator.
Jordi Asensio from Guard Crush (one of Streets of Rage 4 developers) explained how hard it is to get license to have Shinobi as playable character for SoR4 and explained how Sega is a huge company made of multiple smaller entities, and most of that smaller entities couldn't gave their blessing since they never worked in Shinobi before.
It all depends on who the character is related to inside Sega, and a lot of other things, so it's far from being a simple matter to include another franchise in the game.
They got rejected in the end while before Demiurge could manage to get permission to use them in SEGA Heroes.

Yeah Modern Sega is actually a Frankenstein monster of SegaSammy employees and subsidiaries than the Classic Sega we knew before the merger. All the more reason Sega should get their IP shit together.

Well, Sammy technically saved them (Isao Okawa too, but that's another story) so I'd prefer what it is right now then not having SEGA at all.

Why does this Fiona from Shrek have air combos, walljumps, and wallruns?
Because it was made by some of the people who brought you Shinobi 3DS

Shinobi. It's Japanese for stealth, the perfect description of a Master Ninja.
And that's exactly what you are!
Armed with throwing stars and finely-honed battle skills, you must defeat the Ring of Five.
Fight your way past mercenaries and karate thugs.
Take out the meanest martial artists and rescue hostages.
But these dangers pale in comparison to your ultimate challenge: A fight to the death against five evil Ninja Assassins whose mastery of the deadly ancient arts may well surpass your own!

After that date, the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows.
In order to continue running Steam and any games or other products purchased through Steam, users will need to update to a more recent version of Windows.
This change is required as core features in Steam rely on an embedded version of Google Chrome, which no longer functions on older versions of Windows.
In addition, future versions of Steam will require Windows feature and security updates only present in Windows 10 and above.

For example, Takashi Yuda's signature spotted on the lower right of World of Illusion's final boss stage.
I should take a deeper look at Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and Sonic 3.

Shadow Gangs II
All art is finished, left now is programming.
I have big plans for SGII, but I will not start programming it until Shadow Gangs Zero (NeoGeo) is out first.
At least 3 to 4 years wait for SGII...
SG Zero however, will try to get it out in 2025...

Here's a bonkers cheat code for SHINOBI LEGIONS…
• Go to Options
• Set Music to 2-3
• Set S.E. to 06
• Select Audio and put in a *40 button* code

Reward? A fully-featured debug mode with level select, free movement, and more.

I made a patch so you don't have to actually put in the button code:

When debug mode is active, pause and press R to call up the menu for level select and such.
L+R+Z is free movement with no collision; you can fly through walls and doors.
L+X performs special moves, which you can select from the menu.
