Just a snazzy looking logo at present with the date set for February 1st. If I had to guess it would probably be some sort of card based arcade title, but here's hoping it's something a bit more traditional and finally gets ported to consoles in December 20&Never.
On a more serious note, with the Japanese Amusement Expo less than a month away (And SEGA holding the biggest booth A-22 http://www.jaepo.jp/pdf/map.pdf) we can expect to start seeing a few more arcade titles announced.
-
Ooh ooh! I hope wee see a new AM2 fighter, preferably a sequel to an existing fighter or an anniversary edition of Virtua Fighter.
-
I'm sure that whatever this is it will just be another "thing" that I never get a chance to see, touch, or play.
The mainstream has won. All I have left is Atlus.
-
(I often feel exactly the same way).
Time to learn Japanese man.

irrelevant card game incoming

Go play some indy games from GOG or something, don't expect anything quirky to come from retail games for a while, unless a business is purposely trying to bankrupt themselves for tax cuts.

My Japanese is super, super limited but it sounds like they're having a Location Test soon for whatever this game may be. Probably would take place at that Japan Entertainment Expo. So there's credence to this idea that it may be an Arcade game or a card game still yet, I haven't heard of other games besides arcade fighters that had location tests before but it's just a thought.
-
Just because it refers to the Joker card doesn't mean its going to be a card turned based game.
-
I agree, it's clearly going to be a Batman game.

Famitsu has revealed that the game is...
A digital card game for arcade and mobile phones? What? Such a waste of a good logo *sigh*
-
Poopie.
Thanks for the news, Aki. News'd it myself.
-
This game is an arcade game. yes, it plays with digital cards, maybe gameplay like "Key of Avalon", but this is not a mobile phone game.
You know what "aime card" is? It's a card for saving player's data use with some arcade titles by Sega.
And you can check your aime card data through a mobile phone service, so you don't have to go to arcade just for check some data.
"Code of Joker" supports using "aime card" to saving data, that's why you can see the word "携帯電話"(mobile phone) in the Famitsu report.
Anyway, I don't know what game "Code of Joker" will be. But I think it will not to be like shitty mobage or gree card games.

Sorry for my poor English, I'm not a native English speaker.

So it's like how the VMU worked in the NAOMI boards?

SEGA Japan's Twitter page showed us the first character pictures for the game;

Game is confirmed to be a RTS. Suppose they needed something other than Sangoku Taisen for their arcade RTS title in Japan.

Too bad, it isn't. Better luck next time.

Sega's going a bit RTS crazy lately. With this new JOKER game, the whole promise of WARHAMMER RTS games and now COMPANY OF HEROES with Relic also being brought, you'd think there was some sort of goldrush or something.
-
They look like Shina Megami characters, which is a good thing to me.
Again, too bad we won't ever see this in the West.

So right now we have Sangoku Taisen, Total War and Company of Heroes. Expecting in future Warhammer fantasy, Warhammer 40k and Code of Joker, kings of the RTS genre at this rate.

Heh I feel the opposite.

Isn't anyone else surprised to see an RTS Arcade game? Is this a first?

Nah. SEGA already has an arcade RTS series currently active called Sengoku Taisen and its one of their most successful arcade title, obviously not as indepth as say Total War but it does fall under as a RTS.

I doubt too many of us would be interested in this title being brought over though.
-
im kinda surprised actually. it isnt really something to put in an arcade. well i wont propogate my opinion but when i think of arcade its racing skating rowboating shooting. i was allready surprised by that shining serie let alone an RTS
-
I guess this is similar as to how Quest of D got it's spiritual successor with Shining Force Cross.
Again, too bad we won't ever see this in the West.
These games are so aimed at Asian Markets, I doubt anyone will really care. They always made those kinda games.

But Total War isn't an RTS! FFFFFFFFF

Well SENGOKU TAISEN is a spin off of SANGOKUSHI TAISEN which people kept calling romance of the three kingdom wars.As far as i know that's still going on. And add Sega's oldest RTS series ADVANCED DAISENRYAKUKU its a full house. Wonder if Sega's brave enough to let VALYKRIA be turned into a RTS considering they have the talent pool now to make a good game of it.

Fine, resource management turn based real time battles strategy, happy?!?

Famitsu report

Designing a console RPG with those characters would probably be quite nifty, ah well, such is life and so on.
-
I love everything about that trailer. The character designs, the aesthetic, the music, the atmosphere...
Mimicking what others have said, I'd buy this on Vita if it was a true console experience with a storyline.
-
This... doesn't look like an RTS at all. Do people even know what an RTS is anymore?
-
JAEPO appears to reveal nothing relevant.

It was just a translation off of Famitsu. I thought it was more like Sangoku Taisen but looks nothing like it.

I'm holding you personally responsible.

The emphasis is on the cards so call it a Real Time Card Strategy game.

You act like SEGA West thinks these would sell here! No my friend, all we want is Call of Duty and nothing by that useless SEGA Japan, nothing by them at all!
This is the future they want us to believe in and the future SEGA Japan wants to fight against.
-
Well as I've mentioned in other posts, Sega West should just go to their room and sit quietly for a few years.
Let Sega Japan run the show for a few years and... well... I don't know if the company would be successful, but at least I'd be happy.
-
Sega Japan HAS been running the show, that's the problem. They don't know how to sell to a western market let alone their own. It was better during the 90s when Sega of america and Sega Europe had at least some autonmy.
