SEGAbits will be three years old on February 6th!
I know it's still five days away, and we'll make an official "happy third" article on the big day, but I wanted to get the party started early in the forums.
In case you didn't notice, we have a contest going to celebrate. Details are on the front page:
http://segabits.com/blog/2013/02/01/contest-the-segabits-3rd-anniversary-my-life-with-sega-giveaway/
Keep your eyes peeled for more third anniversary stuff this month! :afroman:

Time to join The Kartel?
-
We already merged with The Mafia, remember?
http://themafia.segabits.com/
Such a shame that SEGA Nerds has been reduced to this now: http://thekartel.com/category/videogames/sega-nerds/
But SEGAbits is pretty much SEGA Nerds 2.0, so it's all good.
-
I went there yesterday out if curiosity, and the posts are like a year old. I'm sure Grant must have left.
I totally forgot about the Mafia. That was funny.
-
only found the site about 6 months ago as a gamer of over 30 years, had my gaming virginity broken with a zx81 in the early 80's, it's now my first port of call when i turn the tiniternet on, great reviews and articles, upto date sega news and a forum that seems to be filled with genuine fans not full of trolls. Keep up the good work chaps!

Happy B-day!

I remember like it was yesterday..
You guys have been companions through some of the best and worst moments of my life (aware of it or not).
No matter how shit my day went, no matter how our opinions diverge, nothing matters. In the end we all laugh, share some great moments. That's what I've come to expect from this peaceful haven of friendship amongst the madness wildlife of the Internet. And not a single one of you ever disappoints.
I love you guys.

I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-Kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!
Ya' see that, semmie? I can post random nonsense too. How do you like it?

When the yellow comes, burp the gory triceratops. We friends now!

Has it really been three years? I vaguely remember Ryan pulling me out of the Sega boards in what must have been 2006 or 2007.
God, I think I remember the first time I argued with ROJM. Mushi King had just come out, so it must have been 2005. Almost a decade. Where has the time gone?

Our long, gushing, retrospective news post: http://segabits.com/blog/2013/02/06/today-marks-our-three-year-anniversary/

Yeah, I'm shocked myself. I have literally been doing SEGA articles since very early 2007. God, kill me now.
-
Congratulations, Segabits :) to more 3 years of love for Sega and gaming :)

That's an accomplishment, sir. Enjoy it.

Happy Birthday SEGAbits!
I personally never expected the site to get so big, I know George did, though. It’s been nice watching it grow over the years.
It’s really strange how life can work, many years ago I thought would never work for a website, let alone a popular one.
Don’t wanna get all emotional and deep, but SEGAbits means a lot to me, it’s helped me a lot, not just with my web design goals, but it’s helped me realize when I was pushing myself too hard too and better manage things without overworking myself. I would stay up many nights working on segabits, not healthy at all. Also snapped at George and Sharky a few times..
but that’s all in the past :) we’ve all gotten older and wiser, and I see a good future for SEGAbits. I look forward to doing what I can to improve SEGAbits even more in the future.
and of course our community, I love it. I post on quite a few forums, but SEGAbits is by far my favorite, everyone here is just really chill and awesome, so thank you! :)

I remember back when Seganerds was the most ghetto forum on the internet with that weird red and white bulletin board display.
I'm sure Aki, George, Will (Formerly Shadi), jonboy and Sharky remember those days.
Whatever happened to Snaus? He was like the forum mascot.

Cory grew up and became a successful stockbroker, rumour has it he now owns 22% of America and plays golf on a regular basis with President Obama. They say currently he is trying to fix the Eurozone crisis and is on the verge of a historical agreement.
(Really he just quit the forum because he found it overly Sonic Team fanboyish I think)
-
Perhaps if we talk about him enough he'll return, like how I talked about Cube a lot and he came back (only to be angry because he said I had an obsession with him).
-
We should bring Fluffy back to give all the mods white hair. :afroman:

Perhaps you were.
Didn't he claim to be a psychologist at one point?

I always had a soft spot for Kogen/Waffle. He could be a shade offensive, though.
-
Cube was a psychologist. I talked to him on MSN before about it.
-
Cube was a psychology student. That's not the same thing as a psychologist.

Happy belated Anniversary!

Wait, what? Compared to SEGA Forums and Sonic Stadium?
That is a really strange reason to leave...I have seen discussion of many SEGA games here, and it's natural for us to talk about Sonic when he gets a new game out, so it makes little sense to say it's Sonic Team Fanboyism.
-
I have no clue why Sanus left, but he is welcome to pop into the forums whenever he wants!
To be honest, I really am not bothered if people come and go from forums. I mean, people have their own life, and their own stuff going on, and really its not as though we as a collective sit around wondering "where is forum member X?" all the time. Sometimes I'll think "whatever happened to so-and-so", but it really doesn't bother me one way or another.
What I find funny is when somebody who has been absent from the forums for a long time, are absent because they're afraid of how people will treat them if they return. Or because they think "my god I must have really offended everybody for being gone for so long! They'll only hate me if I return!" It's not an exclusive club, so no pressure at all! :afroman:

He left the SEGA fanbase in general. Though he never visited either of those forums as far as I know.
-
To be honest, I left Segabits for a long while because I felt it was too Sonic-centric too. That and because of Fluffy-gate.
Now I'm back and shit-posting like a champ.
-
I thought Sanus wasn't so much annoyed that it was Sonic-centric (it was just a big year for Sonic news. deal with it.), he was more annoyed with SEGA itself and their decisions. Of course, he's free to bust into the forums and agree/disagree with my assumption.
