Post by: Sharky on February 13, 2010, 04:02:43 am
I seem to remember this being posted previously on the unspeakable other sites forums.

But I may be wrong and wanted to bring it up again anyway!

I'm hoping they are talking about making another Action game in the same style as Spartan and Viking. While I felt pretty much every aspect of Viking could have been more exciting and varied, from landscapes, enemies, moves, weapons, sealth and exploration...

I could see the game had a lot of potential with what they were trying to achive and I really, REALLY enjoyed it... More then I thought I would anyway.

What are your hopes for CA's next console game?
If its like Viking, what would you like to see improved?

Sega has released Spartan but not Viking here... retards.

From what I've heard, they are not that good at action games...? Maybe Nagoshi should give them some help ;P

Spartan was not good if you ask me...

Viking was really good though, I enjoyed it a lot at least.

You are crazy, Spartan was so liniar the 'epic battles' were a total sham.

At least in Viking it was a nice free open world to explore and the large battles were actually large battles and not split up into tiny sections posing as large battles.

But it would be nice if they brought back the boss battles from Spartan!

Jobs for this game have been listed since 2008, so you are a bit late on it.

As for the two they have made, I never really enjoyed either more than the other. But keep in mind that Spartan was a PS2 game.

Never was awesome enough to play Viking, but I enjoyed my Spartan demo a lot. Fun stuff when I want to go warrior on some Romans and stuff.

I really don't think anything they've made for the consoles has been that terrific, especially considering how brilliant their PC outputs are.

Technically Viking is Total Warrior 2 or a progression of it. I actually enjoyed Spartan myself.

Technically you are a penis.

They specifically said this is a new franchise. If it was Total Warrior, it would carry the brand.

Thats why he said technically... as in its a spiritual sequal.

Also, don't start calling other members names, you know what happens.

True. One of the problems with Spartan and Viking is to do with character. The main heroes of these titles are just archetypes and not actual characters. They're just a device, a tool of the game you're in. That approch works for their Total wars series but with a single player action game you need a different approch so that the user actually cares about getting further with the game. It all adds to the experience of that type of game. But if he's just a simple drone with no personality and the game itself is passable many, people might not have the incentive to finish the game and find out what happens.

That actually does sound like the missing mojo from their console efforts. You just don't give a damn about the character.

Except no, they specifically stated it is not a spirutal sequel. It is an entirely new franchise and unrelated to the other one, which still exists.

Viking is semi-open world and mission based, Spartan was a linear action game. The similarities you see are just the developer's style.

Yes just one of the factors sadly absent in their actiojn games. I went back to playing Beast Rider and even Viking the other night and you could see where they were going but for whatever reason didn't make it. Bayonetta of course does have but it has the character thing on top which is the icing on the cake. The game explodes in her character from the get go the personality exudes the game if you know what i mean, something i haven't seen in a game since the first sonic game.
