"Scentless" landmines? I mean, if I was stranded in a minefield and can't see any mines I don't go around sniffing them.

Because we are humans.
Animals probably could detect them with sniffing.

I guess so. But Sonic's friends put themselves out there all the time so the danger is usually shared.

And one of them is dead because of it.
At least in comic version.

Not Sonic's friends, but I suppose there are some civilians / resistance members who die too in Sonic Forces,
but of course the game/comic wouldn't want to go into detail.

Understandable. I'm gonna honestly miss that war effort. Closest we ever had to Freedom Fighters in the game.

Yeah, unless we count Sonic Spinball,
but Freedom Fighters are just cameo in there.

No I mean, SatAM and Archie comics had Dr. Robotnik (later Eggman) took over Mobotropolis with his legion of SWATbots and roboticized the denizens to contribute to his work force in creating more SWATbots and other weaponized machines for warfare. The survivors of Mobotropolis banded together and with other mobians from other places formed a counter-faction against Robotropolis. So in a sense it was a civil war of sorts against the Freedom Fighters and Robotropolis which overtime Dr. Eggman upgraded it into an empire.

Sonic Forces sort of had that. Dr. Eggman started a war and conquered the world and you're part of a band of freedom fighters to resist against Dr. Eggman.

I bet Frontiers won't even mention it. That the fact he conquered 99% of the world is just swept under the rug.

Ah, I see.
Yeah, 99% of the world is very very very big.
The table shouldn't be turned around by simply having Sonic and buddy defeat Eggman and Infinite.
