Sega (and Sonic) themed dishes?
« on: September 08, 2021, 12:55:54 pm »
I made this thread on SNN, now I'm asking you guys. Being a thread about food and theme parks, you could say I am "salty" Mario got a theme park and Sonic did not.

So in Super Nintendo World, a theme park that's more about Mario than anything else to do with Nintendo, there is a café called "Kinopio's Café" which serve Mario-themed dishes, going as far as mixing japanese, american and italian cuisines.
My question is, if Sega made a themes café, what menu should it have? Also, what would be the café itself? After all Kinopio's Café is claimed to be owned by Chef Toad so there is a bit of "lore" around the theme park café.

I can imagine a café owned by Vanilla who makes dishes for her daughters friends and customers while chao help her prepare the meals. Or maybe a recreation Franca's café from PSO2... but I wouldn't know where the kitchen would be located...

Sonic signiture dish could be a chilidog with a side of battered onion rings.

But it doesn't have to be all about Sonic (just as Nintendo World is all about Mario), if you have suggestions for Sega-themed dishes other than Sonic that be cool.

I'd love food based on Chao, may be a blue pudding.
But I don't want it shaped like Chao.
Kinda bad if we had to eat Chao pudding if it's shaped like it.

For drink I'd pick Crush Soda.
Because recently I've just read a tweet about Mecha Sonic and Crush.
And I kinda think it fits.

Never had Crush Soda, but that's given me an idea...

What if they serve their own brand of cola and lemon-lime drink. Maybe Coca-Cola and Sprite, maybe not. But the polystyrene cups they're served in label it as Chaos Cola and Chaos Soda!

My headcanon is that in Sonic's world, Chaos Cola and Chaos Soda is Sonic's world equivilent to Coca-Cola and Sprite. The ingrediants are the exact same accept for one difference is that it is diluted with liquid chaos energy instead of regular water.

Though I imagine if we're talking about a theme park diner then Coca-Cola Company may not appreciate the theme park rebranding it's drinks for the sake of theme.

It's either that or such a theme park will obtain a marketing deal for the Coca-Cola Company to sell them drinks by the cans with a customized can-design. I recall Bethesda did something similar to promote a Fallout game for E3 and they gave out bottles of Nuka-Cola, when really it was just Coca-Cola in different bottles.

Yeah, Chaos might be kinda okay, but rebranding it into "Sonic Coke" would be a problem since it already exist.
It's like promoting other product.

Well, may be keep the Coca Cola as it is....

If I were to do character themed drinks, it be various fruit punches (punch is non-alcoholic right? I forgot), these fruit punches are made with ingrediants in colour and flavour to the characters and serve in cute plastic coloured cups.

As for a cake to answer for Kinopio's café Goal Post Cake, I'm thinking "Green Hill Cake", which can be checkered marble cake covered in macha cream and has a little wooden green hill totem pole on it.

Dang, I missed this post again.
That's a cool cafe..
With many Sonic related things around in the cafe,
it's like a cat cafe... but the cat is replaced with Sonic.
I definitely want to go there.

I think it was just a temporary promotion thing so it's probably no more. But an official Sonic café would be cool.

I found two articles about it ...

From 1 October 2016 until 13 November 2016 :
https://www.sonicstadium.org/2016/09/sonic-25th-anniversary-cafe-open-in-japan/

From 16 October 2017 to 10 December 2017 :

There are probably from other years too.

The menus :

Ah yes, one of Sega's more controversal promotions. Honestly their chilidogs look better than the other café but I think their chikidogs were always like that... Not that I ever been to a Hooters. Don't think we have them in UK.

(Oh wait, we have the one.)

Would you go there if they have collaboration with Sonic?

I don't think I could if I wanted too. Nottingham is a bit far off. There is a train station where I live but it still be five hours to get their with changes and such. And five hours to get back.
I'd probably go if I were to get the most out of Nottingham such as the city of caves or the Robin Hood experiance but there's not much else to do in Nottingham.
