ANOTHER ONE OF STORM'S RUMOURS CONFIRMED... BAYONETTA 2 HAPPENING?!?
-
Additional details from Andriasang:
Watch out Theatrhythm Final Fantasy! Sega is looking to "steal" the 3DS rhythm gaming market with Rhythm Phantom Thief R: Inheritance of the Emperor Napoleon.
This original 3DS title combines rhythm action with adventure gaming. Players assume control of Phantom Thief R, who travels through Paris with his dog Fondue, stealing treasures from real places like Notre-Dame and The Louvre.
The rhythm action component is used when you sneak into the buildings and attempt to escape. In addition to well-timed button presses, the game will require some tilt controls.
Sega is teaming up with famous artists for the game's musical component. Details will be announced in the coming days.
Now here is the interesting part:
Early reports from Famitsu, where the game sees its debut this week, indicate that the game has an anime-ish look that is a bit like a cross between Lupin and Professor Layton.
Famitsu does not have a release time frame for the game, but does list it as 50% complete.
I can tell the game will have lovely style.
ALSO BAYONETTA 2 CONFIRMED OMG STORM

what a weird name!
but yeah i am excited for anything new and interesting from SEGA
and if the rest of list is true! man it will be great
Bayonetta 2 with a theatrical movie? do want! hopefully MARZA Planet is in charge
-
Is it published or made by Sega?
-
I still think that the SHINING HEARTS one isn't true. I hope it isn't.
-
As I said on the front page, this is the kind of quirky weird game thats kept me a Sega fan all of these years... I'm more than interested!
Also... I really hope all of Storms rumours follow through!

Do you mean Shining Hearts getting an anime? or Shining Blade playing like Valkyria Chronicles?
-
Sounds like some pretty great news if it's all true :).

The VC one. I heard a VC type game was headed for Vita but they didn't say it was VC. And now it looks like its coming true...oh gord.
-
You didn't like Valkyria Chronicles? Or you dont want to see a Shining game in the style?
If I'm honest I think its the best thing that could have happened to the series besides going back to Camelot and them making Shining Force 4, which isn't ever going to happen so... I'd be pleased with this!

I'm talking about Shining blade or whatever using the Canvas engine. I really don't like Sega games going down that route of using sharing engines. If they manage to make a game using the same art style of the japanese box and game guides of the original MD games but use them as ingame graphics i may be more open to it but that's not going to happen while that "producer" is still around. he's more intrested in continuing the pop otaku/tony fananactic trend that the series has been reduced to become.
-
I think Sega probably will go down the route of reusing engines for different games... It'll save them big money on engine development and I don't have a problem with it if its as good an engine as the Canvas engine is!
The Otaku/Tony shit art is really the only problem I'd have, it was far better when it was a bit cartoony and the characters were often weird and funky looking.

As I post on the front page, Andriasang has an update to the Rhythm Thief game:http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/08/25/rhythm_thief_r/ (http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/08/25/rhythm_thief_r/)
with images and some info.

The main character isn't so exciting, but I love the dog. Reminds me of Spuds McKenzie.

Doesn't seem too much like a Layton clone, that's good to know.
-
It's funny how accurate that description about the artstyle was. It's actually better than I expected.
I'm not really a fan of music games so I don't think this may ever apeal to me

the official site

man i am in love with the music already!
-
Cool, I don't see the reason why they shoudn't bring this outseas. The Artstyle is fairly Cartoon-like and simple(especially the Dog). And Elite Beat Angels, Phoenix Wright and Layton made it too.
Unless there are some really Japanese Audience focused collabrations and Music. We'll see.
-
Awesome BGM.
3DS most interesting game so far... I'd like to see how they implement the action/adventure parts.
-
I like the artstyle and the music
too bad the game will probably never get brought overseas =P
-
3DS needs any Software it can get tough.
I can understand Otaku-oriented stuff like recent Shining games or Miku not coming to the West, but stuff like Border Break and this seem fairly marketable I think.
-
Loving the music! Like a mix between Space Channel 5 and the Sonic Adventure casino stage.
-
I swear, some parts at the beginning of this video sound like the intro of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle:

I just got word from Tomoya Ohtani's Facebook page that he's doing music.

Is it published or made by Sega?
The creator of this game is the same guy who worked on Team Andromeda. He has worked on Panzer Dragoon RPG, Billy Hatcher, SONIC 2006, etc... so, I believe it is developed by Sega.
-
This game just makes me smile. From what little I've seen and heard, it seems that it will sit comfortably alongside the likes of Space Channel 5 and Jet Set Radio with its utterly unusual and inspired silliness.

...Shun Nakamura...
-
Well this just looks like another LOVE+BERRY game without the cards but aimed at Sega traditionalists.
-
Game's been confirmed for a western release as Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure:

-
That's great that it's coming out in the West. Shun Nakamura is also alright as long as he isn't involved in Sonic or a Plattformer.
Has the Final Version of Border Break in the Arcades been released? Cause I think I see a pattern with an Arcade games like After Burner Climax and VF5 FS where after a while when the Final Revision has been released in the Arcades they'll bring it too Digital Plattforms or elsewhere. Stuff like Miku and Shining games will probably never come, leave that Stuff to Atlus...
Anyway, 2012 is looking pretty great so far, will it it top 2010? Man we get 3 new IP's, early next year. Reminds me of Dreamcast days...
-
Update on the developer for the game...
according to the Australian classification board, Rhythm Thief R, is co-developed by the japanese studio Xeen. http://www.xeen.co.jp/index.html (http://www.xeen.co.jp/index.html)
