I couldn't seem to find a dedicated HotD thread on here, so here it is :).
First the bad news:
Instead of fixing the House of the Dead 4 machine, my local theater just got rid of it :(. Not a huge deal, since it's out on the PSN now.
Now, some amazing news:
They replaced it with the first House of the Dead game!
I never thought I'd get a chance to play this game, since it's been left off basically all the HotD compliations released so far. Anybody else get a chance to play the original game?
-
I happen to play the original game a lot at my local arcade at the mall until it closed down. There's another one at the movie theater too.
I happen to see the first game a lot than the sequels. The only time I see them is when I stop by either at Game works and Dave and Busters.
I would love to play Loving Deads: The House of the Dead EX at the arcades if Sega Amusements ever releases it out here. That game has tons of awesome mini-games like rhythm, find the zombie (similar to HotD2 training mode) and even shooting bad teeth. Zobio and Zobiko both have a awesome design, some people on a certain forum can't seem to see that though.
EDIT: Oops, I just repeated myself in the first two paragraphs. School is really scrambling mai brains lol.
-
That's pretty interesting. The only ones that I'd seen in arcades before were the second and third games.
Maybe Loving Deads will get a PSN port in the future.

Working on that 8)

Just did my part :)

Excellent! You've just earn yourself 2 life bonus.
Speaking of the first game, I got butt loads of rare artwork on my site. Did some ultra hard research finding them. Take a look http://www.thewebsiteofthedead.com/?p=877

Wow. Good stuff :).
-
I have more where that came from. I'm gonna see if I can scan some more pictures of the zombies from the second game.
-
Keep up the good work sir :)

Thank you, put in a lot of hard work into the site. I have a lot more to show off after this semester is over. Right now I'm just updating a few pages on the site.
For now listen to Goldman!

lol.
I got went to the theater early last night and actually got to play The House of the Dead.
I didn't have a ton of time, and was running low on tokens, so I only made it to the second stage.
I was surprised how favorably the visuals compare to The House of the Dead 2. I can't really comment on the voice acting, as the speakers on the machine were set pretty low.
The shotgun from part III, and the sub-machine gun from 4 spoiled me a bit, so it took a while to get used to the pistol again.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to play it again soon :D.
-
I hope so too. The first game was probably the best for me. I memorized all of the zombies locations and saving DBR scientists to get to the bonus room in Chapter 4.
By the way, did you know that The House of the Dead.... Had a manga?!
http://www.thewebsiteofthedead.com/?p=912 <---- Take that High School of the Dead
-
I sure didn't know that.
I was surprised to find out that Zombie Revenge was a spin-off a while back.
-
Yeah, it made a couple of references of the first game. Like the three heroes work for the AMS, creatures from the first game makes a couple of apperances, The Curien Mansion, and the final boss The Black Magician.
My favorite character in the game happens to be Rikiya Busujima. That guy is mad strong for a Japanese man. What makes me even happier is the fact that he appears in Project X Zone for the 3DS. If that game had a western release, I would have him team up with Sakura Shinguji and Ohgami Ichiro or Gemini & Erica killing some Ebitans.
-
SOUP, why are we the only members here talking about The House of the Dead? Because I've talked to Kellie from Sega of America to get chance to interview one of the guys from AM1 *no guarantees though*
Who should I interview first?
Atsushi Seimiya, head of AM1 R&D
Takashi Oda, director of The House of the Dead series
or Yashuhiro Nishiyama, producer of the House of the dead 4

I'm a huge fan of HOTD as well, but not as big as my love for Virtua Cop 3.
-
I've played Virtua Cop 3. It's a very fast paced game. There was this one boss after you defeat him in a train station, he'll throw two remote bombs you have to shoot very quickly. If your successful in one of these QTE, you'll be able to face Joe Fang in his true form, but I failed :'(. I do have a feeling that there will be a digital release for Virtua Cop 3 as a Sega Heritage line up.
And guess who I've interview on April

We maybe getting a sequel, prequels, and returning bosses in the near future.
