My best benchmark score so far was 3282 running it windowed at 1366x768, high resolution textures, slider at 3.

I'm running Windows 7, Athlon II x2 260, 8GB RAM, Geforce GT 545 (the best NVIDIA card you can get that doesn't need extra power plugged in).

My first bench was full screen at 1680x1050, normal textures, slider 3, and it returned ~1600 score.  :(

my computer won't be able to run the game lol, but atleast it could run character creation

you should be able to run it, just switch to windowed mode instead of fullscreen and turn off the shaders

I can run it like that too but I'm tempted to buy a new graphics card just for this game

hmm i see, which option is the shaders option? I can't read japanese =(

i got the slider set at 1, and i figured out the resolution thing. lol

I'd like to build a new PC this summer, but if worst comes to worse, I still got my 7600GT which I'll install

edit: nvm i found a guide, but yeah my shaders are already set to super simple, hmm, gonna have to install that 7600GT if i want to play this summer, probably.

made a total faggot this time

also changed the settings , i tried 640x480 lastnight, so today i tried 1024x768 and changed the textures from compressed to normal, and it actually runs better then it did at compressed 640x480, blows my mind lol

so yeah, I'm not worried anymore, I know my 7600GT will run this just fine if my integrated graphics can handle it somewhat.

now were talkin'!

I am ready for PSO2...!

GPU struggles with the high end shaders, but I can't complain, it's really old, I'm happy with the performance I got. Considering how old the GPU is, this is the GPU i used for PSU =P

Beats playing it on the PS Vita a year later.

Although if my luck changes, I'm going to try and get a new PSU and GPU this year, and upgrade my RAM. My processor seems fine for PSO2, it seems like the game really likes to tax the GPU.

I think it's weird how the created character loses all lighting ingame, within the benchmark process. The game is on full settings for me but I may post my results later on and edit this post

Edit: Well this is what i meant.

Where's all the lighting from the character creation....?

And the benchmark test had good results I think

This was posted in another forums, translation of the character creation options:
http://www.mediafire.com/?oai2wzqy3o2nrwo
The file is put on the "SEGA\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2_CHARACTERCREATOR\pso2charactercreator_bin\data\win32" folder.

EDIT: The character that I'll most likely use in the closed beta, based in a character I had in PSO ver.2 (offline), PSOBB, and PSU.

In PSOBB:

In PSU:

And in the PSO2 character creator:

not getting any answers on PSO-world so i figured i'd post my question here for ezo to answer ;p

Is there anyone else here that has attempted to run the game on an old AM2 AMD X2 processor?

Paired with an old 7600GT and 2GB of ram i can play nicely on simple shaders, but I'm going to be upgrading the GPU to something much more modern in hopes that I'd be able to play with standard shaders. GPU's I had in mind were 460 GTX, 550 GTX Ti, and 560 GTX. I also plan to upgrade my processor in the future to an i5, but I can't afford it right now, cause i'd also have to get a new motherboard, and ram.

So I figured i'd concentrate on what I think are the more urgent parts for the moment.. the PSU, GPU, and add some more ram. Would my CPU hold me back from using the standard shaders? I would think shaders would be completely GPU dependent, but I'm not a PC expert, so that's why I'm asking.

Thanks!

ah, btw here is my becnhmark with my current specs

Okay pretty sure I'll be fine with my current CPU for the moment. I still want to upgrade to i5 in the future.

Just tested the game in all high settings, at 720p, CPU usage never went above 70%, and it usually stayed between 30-40%. The only time it wen't near 50-70%ish is when it was loading a new area.

It seems this game is heavily GPU dependent, even my Ram is fine at 2GB, but I'm going to upgrade that anyways

The CPU is definitely going to limit the GPU, but it'll still be better than what you have now. I recommend getting just a new graphics card and power supply for now (don't know what is your current power supply, but seeing as your PC is rather old, most likely it's not good enough for something like the GTX 560 series), and later on get a processor, motherboard and memory all together (AM2 motherboards used DDR2 memory, current motherboards use DDR3 memory, unless you want to play games like Battlefield 3 with the Athlon 64 X2, 2GB should be enough, there's really no point in getting more memory).

Most likely by the time you can upgrade the CPU, motherboard and memory, there's going to be the new Ivy Bridge processors, you could then upgrade to one of those.

great! Thanks Ezo, you're the best! I agree about the RAM, the DDR2 stuff is rediciously over priced, saves me money not having to get it.

let's do this! So this will allow me to have standard shaders? XD

I suggest these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121446
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371044

They're more expensive, but I think they're worth the extra money (the power supply appears to have a $20 discount code, btw).
