Yeah but it's still a huge leap from the series they're suppose to be based on.

Meanwhile I'm still twiddling my thumbs waiting for spin-off shows from Ducktales 2017. I believed, or was at least hoping Ducktales was the start of an "Afternooniverse" and we'd be given various spin-offs from it such as new Rescue Rangers.

Yeah, too bad it's over, I kinda like it and its potential to grow spin-offs from it. Because despite being praised a lot as well as being a success, DuckTales  2017 did not deliver the ratings that Disney desired for, and as a result, the show was cancelled after third season.

Can ratings really decide such things? I mean DuckTales was still a rather popular show even if the ratings were "not satisfactory". Couldn't they have lowered the standards of the ratings and keep it up? I really wanted to see if this Afternooniverse would really unfold.

Yes, because ratings were the most tangible output of the shows.
Advertisers decide where they'll put the ads based on ratings.
And for kid shows, sometimes income aren't based on the tv series alone but also on merchandises.
Merchandise publishers decide whether they would make franchise-related toys/books or not based on the ratings.

Make me feel sad really since this version in my opinion has been succesful in differentiating Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
Each of them has their own personalities, not just different by outfit's colour.
