Infact there are two characters still to be confirmed that will really annoy Radrappy (Different person told me) but I think Ryan would like it quite a bit!

Can't wait!

Sega West, why u no luv Sega of Japan only IP for Sega crossovers? One or two franchises from Japan wouldn't hurt. In the end, we can't have everything we want in the game. Even though Project X Zone has half of my favorite characters from Sega's side, mostly from the Saturn and Arcade era of Sega. That's just me though. :-\

I'm still gonna buy this game regardless.

Just want to jump in here and say this,

How you can still believe any of this after Sonic Generations blows my mind... I mean it may not have been your favourite Sonic game but to say that the team lacked skill? or passion? After recreating some of the series most beloved stages in both 2D and 3D? Adding modern and classic sonic? All those classic and remixed tunes? Lots of paths in each level to discover... Gameplay which has improved year on year since 2006. Heck the fantastic character development/script for Dr Robotnik.

Was it the best it could ever be? maybe not. But the way some sonic fans completely disregard of all the great features, beautiful graphics, awesome music and other general series improvments just so they can complain about Classic sonics jump physics or modern sonics boost button. (Which yes I'm sure is very important, but isn't the entire game.

With each game that has released since 2006 Sonic Team has improved in leaps and bounds fixing multiple fan complains with each itteration. I just find it kind of sad that all of theres improvments can be so easily brushed aside and Sonic Team are again tarred with the 'no talent, no passion' brush simply becuase people get caught up on the remaining quibbles.

Oh well... Maybe next time? I won't be holding my breath.
I still play sonic generations at least once a week and it's definitely a great game. I may probably be a little too harsh but that's just the way I feel. To me sonic generations wasn't good enough and still lacked any pursuit towards perfection. That's just a general statement however, if we'd go more into the details, i'd say that 30% of sonic generations's content is kind of lacklustre as well. I feel Sumo Digital however are really striving for perfection... and i'd bet they'd make a better sonic game if they would ever get the chance. Not saying that to belittle sonicteam but simply to credit SUMO

oh by the way my money's on the following characters (based on what Aki suggested about my disliking them)

-a representative from Aliens Colonial Marines
-a character from total war
-a football player from football manager
-a character from spiral knights (this wouldn't actually be an unwelcome choice by itself, just in the context of haven taken a more classic character's spot)

any of those inclusions would probably send me over the edge.  I am happy that vyse is in the game.  But for the love of christ and all that is holy WHERE IS THE VIRTUAL ON CAR????

I hope it isn't Renegade Ops (as much as I love the game.)

I wouldn't mind General Bryant as a racer.

So I came to have a read, and what do I find. Rumour and hear say. SEGA-Bits, I am disappointed.

There are about 4 people right now who know what may or may not be happening with Ristar. I can assure you with absolute conviction, whoever Aki-at claims to be getting information from, isn't one of them.

I'll leave you all sleep on that one :)

Glad to know I might be proven wrong on Ristar, since Vectorman was confirmed not to be in I only went with the next possible character but happy to have egg on my face. There is not enough Mega Drive love from SEGA or any belief they have that their older IPs are still more relevant today or can be again with the correct and adequate marketing.

I'm not sure why Ristar ever became so requested. It's strange because having been a Sega fan for many many years barely anyone ever cared to remember much about Ristar, the game or the character in general. The IP had long fallen into obscurity during the Dreamcast days, To most fans he was no more than an obscure toy you got from a Shenmue toy redemption machine or a brief cameo in Segaga (a game which is only known by some of Segas more hardcore fans.)

Suddenly theres been a surge in popularity for this obscure character, I wonder if it because of the re-release of Ristar on XBLA/PSN and the like or if the younger folks are just scowering the Sega classics looking for anything that's colourful and, well, 'Nintendo-like'.

Personally, I wouldn't mind Ristar showing up but I think a Phantasy Star representation would be much more fitting.

I haven't heard about Ristar until Sonic Mega Collection came out. I guess that's how it started with his popularity when fans unlock the game. Same goes for Vectorman when they played Sonic Gems Collection. Man I wish Sakura Wars or something like Rent-A-Hero was in a Sonic collection.

S0L, I'm glad your back. I thought you'll never stop by here since the game's announcement. In Purge's words, where have you been? *except for the dancing part*

Thanks for the clarification and for stopping by, Steve! Yeah, I've decided to not speculate until the final roster hits, or SEGA does another social network guessing game like they did with Ryo. Too many folks have sources that have ended up being iffy.

That OutRun DLC was amazing, at least the description was. So I have great faith in the final tracks/racers/cameos.

Not gonna lie that I found out about ristar untill shenmue capsule toys myself XD(actually I found out about alot of SEGA stuff untill shenmue), but once I found out what a legendary great game it was, it topped even the sonic classics for me on most levels. The graphics are simply BEAUTIFUL for even todays standards, the music is some top level shit and the gameplay is just excellent. The game is just really that great imo. It's indeed an obsecure game that came around the end of the mega drive's life cycle, but a masterpiece is a masterpiece and I hope that many apreciate it. I definitely recommend anyone to play it through towards the end.

Also great to see ya here Steve.  :P

Personally, I wouldn't mind Ristar showing up but I think a Phantasy Star representation would be much more fitting.

My issue really is this game has just as bad balanced roster as they did last time. Of the 15 characters confirmed so far, 9 of them are from Sonic Team. We have 11 left and even if they are not Sonic Team characters, that would mean 35% of the characters are from one team. 4 of the 9 franchises confirmed so far are from the Dreamcast era, which is SEGA's least successful console era ever.

Obviously AM2 is not considered important by SEGA, their belief that even VF5: FS was a niche fighter in a niche genre shows you how much confidence they really have on their own brands even though AM2 have been by far SEGA's most successful team. With this is just continues to be a further knife in being a fan of the company, especially as the game is being developed for non-fans. Suddenly their opinion is just as or more important than those of fans who have been following the company for 20 odd years? Well glad to know SEGA are not directly targeting me.

It is a shame but I expected as much. After all SEGA for some insane reason believes that the Alien franchise should be one of their core brands when it should never be, it's only a license they hold.

Oh yeah, I have Yakuza 5 to look forward to and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown should keep me busy until the end of the year.
