Dude, the Wii U looks like shit already and these are launch games... imagine in 4 years when PS4 gets amazing games. I feel bad, because Wii U will get 'little better than 360 games'...

I agree they didn't move as many consoles, but I think if they are highly rated, they can move more units than they have now. But you are right, its hard. Nintendo seems to have lost it already.

Anyone think its funny that 2 of the games shown at the conference where about 'privacy', more so lack of privacy. Big brother watching you etc. Then you find out the PS4 records everything you do and sends it to Sony, aka no privacy. WTF?

LOL

You guys think so? To me it feels like the same difference between my ps3 to my PC imo, in which i find the ps3 to still look great. Wii however just looked disgustingly bad on an HD tv from day one

About nintendo being competitive. This part we'll have to see. I dunno I feel like if there's one thing Sony didnt succeed in its conference and that is show imaginitive games. The ones they did show like klank(or klack?) looked nice, but really if the last guardian was shown I wouldnt have started this point at all. Nintendo may have a hard time right now, but I have faith in them I guess. Same way the 3DS launch was recovered, I think when nintendo recovers people will have to make a choice based on their taste. But yeah fair point george, this is all baseless wishful thinking so you have a good point.

Those videos looked a shit load better than PS3 games. The lighting alone was amazing. The PS3 has 512mb of ram, not unified. PS4 will have 8gb unified streamlined ram. Its going to be crazy...

Not denying it looks shit load of better. I'm just saying that compared to wii looking terrible from day one, last gen consoles and the wii u will never look terrible, just worse.

Basically even if the ps4 looked better than any high end PC game i've seen, i'd still be able to play last gen game without the thought of "this looks fucking terrible". compared to wii where I felt this way from day one.

I think this is because some of the issues we had are gone permanently like pixelated images and lack of polygons etc.

Oh I see. It also depends on price with Sony. If they can get it 400 and lower, I assume it will sell a shit load of units.

Oh Yay, Another Killzone Game. In all seriousness, there were some neat things that were shown off, but I dunno if I was too impressed with the third party reel being mostly demos, multiplatform games, a port of a year old PC game, and PC footage in one of the demos:

Are you kidding me?

Two of the games are sequels. Both games look a bit revamped. Killzone Shadow Fall had more of a city feel to it, with over the top action. This is still Killzone, after all. The other was Infamous: Second Son with a new 'hero'. I understand Sony would have IP sequels. That is what franchises are. But only 2 of the games shown where sequels to last gen games.

Media Molecule showed off a impressive create tools for what will be their upcoming game.

Capcom's new engine and Deep Down look amazing. Very hard not to be impressed.

Jonathan Blow's The Witness sounds awesome and I love the art style on it.

Knack, a new IP, also looked awesome.

It think they did a good job showing a bit of everything. Saying that big 'upcoming' PS3 games will be heading to the new console, New IPs, a little bit of PS3 titles coming back and even stuff for the hardcore gamer that doesn't need explosions all the time (The Witness, Knack and Mm's upcoming game).

All I need to know is the timeframe for the game's release. If they are 2013 games, MINE MINE.

I bet that most of the stuff shown, like Killzone 4 was target render anyway. But Sony delivered on their renders on PS3. So no hating. I hope its playable at E3 though.

It looks like the PS4 won't be backwards comparible with PS3 games.  You might have to re-buy download emulated versions.  I don't want to have a PS3 and a PS4 so I can keep Valkyria Chronicles.

I really don't mind having a PS3 hooked up too till I stop playing it all together.

I've got 9 consoles, Mac Mini, DVD/VCR and a receiver all hooked up to the TV.  I don't think I can put in anything else.

LOL

I was actually thinking this when I watched it. (Wow...the way we are going we will be lost in an age where we are ALWAYS watched)

I don't like that future....but it seems we are heading that way.

Some of the conference looked cool, but I felt like it was still catering to a more Western Audience even when Japanese Devs such as Capcom and Square Enix were present. Deep Down looks like a WRPG and I have no idea what SE's tech demo was.
Big fan of Claymore, Miria in particular.

Currently playing Yakuza 0.

Not sure what to think about the PS4. The reveal in no way amazed me like the jump from PS2 to PS3 did , or Xbox to Xbox 360 did. Of course, that is to be expected, but I really think we're starting to hit that point where a new console does not mean "Welcome to the Next Level". I look at footage from the last PS3 conference and find it just as great looking as the PS4 conference. Sure PS4 has more detail and light and little details like that, but we all know that sort of stuff is only achieved with a large budget and we will probably only see the difference between a PS3 and a PS4 game when it comes to some AAA titles.

A lot of the "wow" moments are starting to be more of the unseen bits, like faster loading times and minimal startup times. Stuff like social integration (the share button) is less of a next gen innovation and more of a perk that comes with new hardware. It's not as though stuff we see with Wii U and PS4 when it comes to social elements aren't possible on the PS3 or 360. They just weren't built in from the start. So a new console means a new canvas for additional ideas, but I don't get the feeling that these new ideas were added because it was never possible before. More because, like I said, the hardware is new so they have the opportunity to start from scratch and add new things.

Lack of backwards compatibility is sadly a deal breaker for me. If it is promised, soon, that a bulk of the PS3 library will be playable on the PS4 via digital downloads, I'll be happy. But as of now, as a 360 owner there are still loads of PS3 games I've yet to experience and there is no way I'm plunking down more cash for a PS4 when I can get a PS3 for less and access to all the games I've wanted to try.

I guess thats another niggle, the fact that PS4 does a lot of what PS3 does. Shelf space is not something I have much of, and a PS3 and PS4 side by side is a bit too much for me personally. Two devices connected to the same social network with access to different games but using the same account (I assume they will keep PSN ids) but then there are different digital titles between the two, then the fact that both are blu-ray players and media centers. Would one shift everything but PS3 games to the PS4, and keep their PS3 hooked up just for their PS3 library? I guess so.

Anyway, that's my personal negatives. But overall PS4 crushes the Wii U. PS3 to PS4 may not be a big step up for me personally (I know hardware wise it is, but I'm not feeling it yet), however Wii U to PS4? It's like Wii compared to PS3 all over again.*

*I refuse to go further back and note Dreamcast compared to PS2 because I love SEGA too much.

I personally think it's a huge change. Fidelity isn't something you see on a low quality stream or even a HD youtube video. It's something you gotta see in person or in a high quality non-youtube video.

This generation isn't about increase in polygon account, it's about better lighting, textures, physics, particles, etc. Stuff you would see on high-end PC's. Which is great!

Watch the Jimmy Fallon video that comes out today, he'll be freaking out at the graphics of killzone cause of how nice they look :P

I don't know what else people were expecting, these are launch games we are seeing and they already look amazing, and will only look better as time goes on.

I love how Sega is never at these anymore.  They're never guest speakers at E3.  Never at the console launches.  It's always Ubisoft and Square Enix and Capcom.  Considering I mostly only care about Sega, gaming just keeps getting more and more depressing for me.

Well there was an ex-Sega guy on Stage, that Square Enix who did their new Engine? He also did the Hedgehog Engine.

About Sega being on the next consoles...it's a exciting thing for sure. I'm hoping to have the same effect back in the day with Sonic, Kenzan, Virtua Fighter 5, After Burner Climax,  etc.  Awesome Updates of the classic Sega Franchises.

Also since they now allow I guess "bigger" free2play games. How about ports of PSO2 and something like a f2p Border Break as a flagship type of download game?
