Christopher Nolan will direct Superman, we can take consolation from that! As for Spiderman, it's true, the reboot doesn't make much sense. Still, I hope it does the series good since the first one was great, the second one was alright and the third one was downright bad with all that stupid emo stuff. Can I have Kirsten Dunst's boobs back though? :afroman:

Christopher Nolan's Producing the new Superman. Zak Snyder (director of 300, Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen) has just been announced as the Director of the new Superman movie.

From what I gather, Nolan and David Goyer have a hand in the script/story though.

My only fear is that Snyder and Nolan will make Superman a flawed, brooding character which he is not. I always saw Superman as so perfect, that he was imperfect when sharing a planet with a bunch of idiots like us. I also liked that his father was a guiding force in how we lived his life (at least he was in the old movies).

Oops, my bad. Thanks for the correction. I've never been much of a Superman fan but I hear Natalie Portman could be playing Lois Lane. That would spike my interest.

That was mostly when Darren Aronofsky was the most rumoured prospect as director.

I don't know about being perfect. I've always thought that Superman's been much more interesting as a character that isn't perfect (because nobody is), but that strives so much harder than anyone else to do the right thing.
The Kents instilled such a strong moral compass in him from the get go.

Haven't seen it yet, but I added it to my Netflix queue if only because I just discovered how nice the soundtrack is:

Speed Racer is visually excellent but I didn't enjoy the actual film all that much. I hope you like it Barry!

I watched The Secret of Kells and it was beautiful. One of the most visually stunning animated films I've ever seen and it had a great story as well!

Just watched 16 Candles for the first time. I had no idea John Cusack was in it.

I just came back from a screening of Rec 2.

Oh, boy, I was kinda dissapointed.

Whatever merits the original movie had, this one completely wastes them. The good scares are very few and far apart and you can sorta smell a twist a mile away.
The direction they take with one to explain why everything works is a curious one, but might not be to everyone's cup of tea.

Granted that once again, the direction and the way the movie uses lighting shines for a low budget production. I also commend them for making the shaky cam less annoying, but it ruins it with some of those annoying(through intentional) camera glitches that I have to hate in these type of films.

I noticed Barry talking about reboots in short amounts of time:

I actually kinda like the idea, even though so many people seem to hate it. Comic book characters have had so many representations over the years it's cool to see people's different takes on them in film. It's nice when a movie nails it to see a sequel, but for something like Superman Returns, I wouldn't mind a reboot again and again.

Speed Racer, I thought, was a fantastic film! Really, I can understand why it bombed at the box office - anime fans will automatically shit on the film and the people who grew up with it will not care or will not understand this film. I actually hated the anime as a kid, but I took my nephew to see this and I loved it more than he did.
Personally, it feels like my generation's Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, at least in terms of spirit. Also, the plot to the film is actually pretty damn serious - another reason why it probably failed to chart. Kids will get anxious during the "talking" parts. To hell with 'em! The acting is superb. Really glad to see John Goodman doing something, too.
It's too damn bad, as the film has one of my favorite lines of all time: "You don't get into a T-180 to be a driver. You do it because you're driven."
I love this damn film, man!

As for the composer of the film, the dude has been making a name for himself for years. I loved him since when he first started composing for video games:

[youtube:19zi2g8a]ZV8E5aZtBCE[/youtube:19zi2g8a]

Michael Giacchino. I haven't heard many of his film compositions, but I'm sure they're brilliant.

Okay, as for the last film I saw... it's actually a TV series, but whatever:
The Walking Dead
If you are a zombie fanatic at all, watch it. It's supposed to premier on Halloween on AMC, but there's a leak of it on YouTube and it's pretty decent.

The Walking Dead is based off a comic series ( equally fantastic). It's very tense and beats the zombie crap out of any zombie film in the last decade.

Last movie I saw was Miss March.

Honestly, I can say that I've seen much, apart from one or two trully laugh out lod moments, it's a very dumb and childish movie. Pass.

For a few Dollars More.

I loved this movie, liked it better than a Fistful of Dollars. Next is 'The Good, The Bad, The Ugly', probably watch that tonight or next weekend. Very much looking forward to that one.

I have been watching the Friday the 13th film series for the first time lately. I was never really interested, but once I started reading the titles of the releases I got really excited from how stupid they sounded. Just a really goofy set of movies. I mean, how can people not love this stuff? The fourth film is "The Final Chapter", but then they made like seven sequels after Jason was brought back to life from a thunderstorm at night. Brilliant. So absolutely dumb and terrible that they are all a blast. I also love all of the special effects and sound direction.

I watched Say Anything... for the first time in a long while. I enjoyed it quite a bit more than the first time. John Cusack is fantastic in this movie.
