^All you lucky Americans and your earlier release dates. I wanted to see the fighter too but it's not out until the 20th.

Canadian.
That's pretty lame that the release is staggered. I'm actually surprised it showed up here. The theater in town doesn't get a whole lot of "Award Season" films.

Ah yes I was going to specify, but isn't Canada part of America anyway (as a continent)?

The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

First of all it has Mr. Cage, one of the worse actors ever. The plot is pretty much easy to understand, not a GREAT movie, but isn't god awful. Just funny how everyone this 'nerdy kid' knows accepts that he is a sorcerer and does what he says, even risking their lives without saying 'this man is crazy'. Also 'people not being able not to see magic' makes no sense, when sometimes they can.

Movie makes sense sometimes and not others. CGI was good. Story was predictable. Don't assume you will be blown away.

I thought Nicolas Cage was pretty great in Matchstick Men.

Watched Disney's A Christmas Carol last night on blu-ray (the Jim Carrey one). It was surprisingly good! Having read the book, the movie was a very faithful adaptation, they even included scenes not found in most other adaptations (the creepy kids under Christmas presents robes, for example). Jim Carrey didn't play for laughs, he did a good job. The only negatives I can think of are the obvious "ooh this is in 3D" moments that don't translate to 2D and the segment where he shrinks down in size. No real reason for it. I give it an 8/10

I just watched Black Swan.
Wow.
I don't think I've seen a movie with that much flat out, bat shit crazy, what the EFFery since Mulholland Drive.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but man did it get weird.

Carlito's Way - Fantastic performance from both Al Pacino and Sean Penn and the film is still as great as when I first saw it, probably one of my favourite chase scenes at the end of the film, gripping stuff if you've never seen the film before. I'd recommend it to all for viewing

Surrogates - Second film I saw of the night. Interesting concept but overall, mediocre film, the action scenes are alright but it felt like a long padded film, I don't think I liked anything except for the concept but even then, not enough to push the film into good watching

Blood: The Last Vampire - The last film I watched of the night, so bad, the acting feels like it belongs in the early 50s American films so it has some sort of charm there, but overall the CGI was terrible, the plot was terrible and everything was bad. I'm not sure if me being sleep deprieved played a part in it, but it's one of the worst films I've ever seen, I want my 90 minutes back

Sherlock Holmes - It's been a good year for Sherlock Holmes fans, a fantastic film followed by a fantastic mini-series on BBC, but that's for another time. I wanted to watch it when it came out but never got the time and recently it came on TV, but I'm impressed, Downey plays an excellent Holmes and Mark Strong is a very good villain. A lot of good things I can say about the film, the dialogue is great and the music is tremendous, but then again I've become a fan of Hans Zimmer work after The Dark Knight. The action scenes are all done pretty well, not the best but still good enough for a few viewings. If I had to pick out one thing I was let down is there seems to be less deduction involved in this and more action than is the norm for Holmes, but overall a great film.

The Book of Eli - Another film I wanted to watch but never managed too at the cinema. Originally I didn't think much of the film but I think it might be a bit harsh, an alright film but not a must watch, certainly the action scenes that are in it are done well but a fair few too little I felt. The backstory I felt should have been expanded, although both Washington and Oldman play their respective roles well. Whilst not that impressed by this film, I'd hope for more in this style for the future (I do like wild west settings set in the future)

Also saw GI: Joe and Transformers 2, terrible films, they remind me of the stuff I see in Bollywood, only better budgetted.

Saw this too. It reminded me of 'Perfect Blue' if you have seen it, only Perfect Blue to me was better. Sex scenes needed serious dose of tits.

Went to a Tron:Legacy screening this afternoon.

It's not a bad movie, but it's just largely forgettable and dull at points.
Even when there's good action scenes, you just go through the motions.

I think that the plot is a little contrived, in the sense that one of the main characters should have done something before instead of just waiting it out.
