I saw Piranha 3D a couple of days ago with a bunch of my closest friends and a six pack of beer.

I wasn't honestly expecting something like this. It's supossedly a horror film, but I couldn't stop laughing at how silly everything was.

It's one of those movies that so flawless at how bad it knows it is, the one-liners, the shameless smut, the over-the-top gory deaths, the extras overacting... It was so bad, it's good. The very definition of guilty pleasure.

I watched Fast and Furious the other day, and was pretty impressed. The whole thing came across as the sequel everyone wanted, instead of what they ended up getting in parts 2 and 3.

Last night though, I watched Fast 5 in the theater, and was blown away.  It's full of nods to the previous movies, but surpasses all the movies that came before it in the franchise by a long shot. It embraces the kind of over the top machismo-oozing that put me in mind of the first Predator movie. It also knows when not to take itself too seriously, and has a good chunk of laughs/ridiculous moments. I'd rank it up there as one of the best American-action movies I've ever seen.
Highly reccomended.

Also: The Rock is ridiculously badass, and delivers some equally ridiculous lines. Hoolarious.

I just came back from a screening of Thor. I was expecting much more to be honest.

My opinion: A little dissapointed.

It starts off strong than but then when the Avengers subplot hijacks the story (like they did with Iron Man 2), it's only there to add an extra 25 minutes of filler. A lot of filler in the movie, that is when there isn't action, we have some occasional drama, followed by Chris Hemsworth's character doing some very silly and occasionally awkward scenes that are more creepy than funny:
Quote
There's one point where Thor is randonmly walking around town, puzzled about this new world he's in and he walks into a pet store asking for a horse and when the puzzled clerk tells that he only has smaller animals, Thor retorts that he want one big enough to ride. A lot of people in the theatre laughed, but to me it felt like a Spiderman 3 moment.

One scene in particular:
Quote
Another Spiderman 3 moment is when Thor's hammer gets lodged in a rock and one truck driver decides to pull it out. Doesn't work... what does he do? Invite every hillbilly in the US to try and pull this hammer from the stone.

And even with that, it's just so utterly predictable that sometimes you're just going through the motions of story that's part King Arthur and part Lion King.

I just saw Thor and honestly thought it was brilliant. It was a great film and a excellent way to kick off the summer.

Also Hawkeye is in one scene of the movie, got me all geeked out!

I loved 5 Fast 5 Furious, also loved it, but probably for different reasons. I've seen pretty much every F&F film with the same group of friends, and we always find them so ridiculous and silly that we can't help but enjoy every minute of it.

We especially liked the way that Vin Diesel can use Nitrous to somehow increase the traction of his tyres! Also, did you notice that The Rock was sweating profusely in every scene he was in?

Thor was a rather good movie. Loki was probably my favorite character (Heimdall was also pretty awesome though.)

Yeah. That was some pretty epic sweat he had going on. I remember thinking that it really looked like he was sweating, but there was just way too much for it to be real. It looked like he went bobbing for apples before every scene.

Bridesmaids.
Awesome stuff.
My only complaint, is that it could have used more Maya Rudolph.

Oh really? I thought it sounded like some Chick Flick and never actually bothered to even look into it, but there is an offer at work to see the movie and go out for free drinks afterwards. I might take them up on it if the movie is decent.

I heard Bridesmaids is good, it's from the Apatow team so it's more than just derpy jokes. They actually give some depth to the characters. I was gonna check it out, but I also have Thor and Hangover II to see. So many movies, so little time!

It's directed by Paul Feig (the creator of Freaks and Geeks). He's also directed a ton of episodes of The Office, and Arrested Development.

The biggest draw's probably Kristin Wiig though. She's pretty hilarious. It's about as much of a chick flick as Knocked Up.
