I watched X-Men too and I just did not find it that good.

The action mostly felt lifeless, there was a lot of special effects and explosions but it barely felt like something I'd want to watch a second time over.

The character development for Mystique and Angel was laughable, sure Magneto likes you for who you are and wants you to be proud, I still do not see what makes her decide to join a homicidal maniac. I would have thought she would have developed a better understanding of right and wrong being with Xavier all this time. I also completely hate the homicidal maniac they've made Magnus, but no turning back now.

In general I just did not like much about the film and the soundtrack I felt was mostly forgettable, 6/10

Wolverine's cameo was awesome though.

I finally got around to Toy Story 3, never been a massive fan of the series this one included but I think it was well worth it for the end.

Pulls at the old heart strings, mainly because it reminds me of my childhood and the whole growing up and moving on, the end of an era and the start of new ones and all the good and bad that comes with it.

I think it was a fantastic end to the series, I hope they don't try to make anymore.

Saw X-Men the other day, really enjoyed it. I wasn't really expecting too much since i heard wildly different views on it, but ended up finding it quite good.

A huge dissapointment. But I can't say I didn't see it coming. I was excited about the first trailer, WB was confident enough to get the first trailer out of the gate, all the way back in November, which showed that they had confidence in their product, but when the trailers for Thor and X-men: FC all came out, it had me looking back to the GL trailer and thinking "Ewww... So much talent attached to it and this the best they can do?"

Because, it was only recentely that they started to throw every single trailer on a weekly basis. Trying to show as much as possible, in fact, I'll let you guys in on a secret: If you've seen all the trailers so far, you've pretty much seen the entire movie.

WB was clearly desperate and the final movie shows it. It needed a much better origin story, it needed some good character development, it really could've used an extra 40 minutes to explain to people what the flying fudge was going on.

This isn't Catwoman bad, but Fantastic Four bad easily.

Captain America: The First Avenger

You know, X-men First Class was awesome and this one comes in a very close second. A nice origin story, good humor (not the embarrasing type that you see in Thor that made me put on dark shades every time someone started to chuckle) and pretty good action sequences.

Some stuff was a little odd, though, like the USO stuff, granted that I liked the George M. Cohan theme, but it was kinda weird.

Watched Source Code over the weekend. As a big fan of the director's other film "Moon", I had high hopes and thankfully I was not let down. A fun thriller with crazy time travel elements (or is it? dun-dun-dunnn!) and theories on alternate/virtual realities. Plus, lots of downtown Chicago shots. I saw my school in a number of scenes! :)

The trailers didn't look that great, but the end result was a really compelling movie. Considering how cheesey the concept could be, they play the whole thing pretty straight, and it really works out. There's a real sense of dread throughout the whole thing when you know it's not going to end well.

Saw this in the early afternoon screening. Conan the Barbarian is an OK movie, a sad reminder that the Summer movie season is over.
It's an acceptable introduction into Conan and it's mythology, if you've never the originals or don't know much about the source material.

Having said that, though, I can't help but think that I'm watching a slightly less sillier version of The Scorpion King. Jason Mamoa is good at Conan, not so much at acting, but has the right physical presence.

Everybody else just does OK, including Stephen Lang, who apparentely has to hide his gut with painfully obvious armor with chest outline.

Probably could've done better box-office numbers had they actually marketed the film.

Funny that he isn't a great actor, but did an amazing job in The Game of Thrones when he did speak.

I saw the  movie Red State. Kevin Smith's new film.

First of all, the movie was OK. It is not like other Kevin Smith movies and reminds me more of something like Rob Zombie would film. Its gritty. Though you can tell that smoked way too much pot wrote it. The characters are never believable and the focus of the main characters keeps changing. Basically everyone almost dies off...

Also, this scenario would never happen. Maybe.

Haven't seen Game of Thrones yet. Jason Mamoa must've had much better lines and direction in that one. Certainly not in this movie.

OK, that single scene alone is better than 90% of what I saw in this new Conan movie. Now I have to see the TV show.

I watched They Live on netflix this morning. It was quite a bit different than I was expecting.
Roddy Piper was pretty great in it though.

Since I plan to see the new Fright Night this week, I watched the 1985 version yesterday. I have to say, it's a little different from what I was expecting. Watching it today, the production values are a little underwhelming, but the premise is just so vastly different from all those slasher movies in the mid-80s that's actually quite fun to watch.

There's a couple of scares here and there, the makeup on the vampires is so gruesome to the point of almost being unintentionally funny. Some characters are simply excellent, namely Peter Vincent (played by Roddy McDowell), who feels like a parody of Vincent Price.

Part of what makes the comedy work, is how sometimes the movie feels self-aware just enough not to take itself so seriously.

Namely the main villain, Jerry, who even if he acts like a genuine menace, he's got a level of swagger and confidence but strangely enough, he still has a somewhat human quality to him (namely a scene involving him and one of the hero's best friends, it's weird because it feels exactly like a scene from Interview with a Vampire).

I'll watch the remake once I get a chance.
