Virtua Fighter 20th Anniversary Discussion Thread
« on: November 28, 2013, 11:36:29 pm »
http://vf20th.sega.jp/blog/
SEGA launched the new site and will update with the development of the games and tournament history. I have a feeling that their going to announce something new as well. Virtua Fighter 6, Fighters Megamix 2, Fighting Vipers 3 (I wish)?

What are your thoughts?

VF6 most likely, it's been far too long!

Seeing VF is having it's 20th Anniversary just reminds me I'm OLD! :P I remember seeing it at a local arcade back when such places existed and it having fighting fans huddled around it, oohing and ahhing about the look and gameplay. I chose Wolf and never looked back.

Fighters Megamix 2

This would be neat. Either a sequel like you're suggesting, or using the recent VF and FV ports to engineer a Megamix Model 2 game.

I'll explode if they announce VF6. Time for Sega to once again show these other fighters how it's done.

Wasn't the Nu arcade board revealed recently also?

If I was forced to pick one sega series to continue on at the cost of all others. I'd pick VF. Just keep giving me that VF.

Virtua Fighter is easily the best series Sega has left from the old days. It is consistently the best in its genre, and remains an example of Sega's technical prowess. That being said, I have high expectations for VF6, and fully expect it to be the most beautiful thing on the latest hardware. VF4 and Evo were brilliant. VF5 was solid, but not cutting edge. I'm hoping Sega is pouring a lot into a new game.

Shun Di all the way.

Aren't they also planning a Virtual On Anniversary?

I am wondering whether we will get a pack in anniversary special of both games?

Really excited, hope I can watch the nico streams from Japan OK. The current version of VF (Final Showdown) is pretty old in Tokyo arcades now, so a new massive update would be fantastic to rejuvenate the brand once again. 20 years! Wow, who can remember where they were back then? Heh ;) Would love to see some pictures of any VF cabs or arcades back then in the West. Gaming sure has changed a lot since then, that's for sure.

You guys might appreciate this:

Can't help but feel I've read the interview a long time ago, especially the part where Suzuki shows the interviewer his game concepts on his laptop.

Kickass interview nonetheless, thanks for posing mang. The interview is a bit funny, though to due language barriers  :D

Just watched the live stream featuring Yu Suzuki, Daichi Katagiri, and other AM2 staff. Looks like their selling new VF T-shirts and all 5 VF game's tunes on ITunes and Amazon MP3.
