I had optic neuritis about a year ago in my left eye. Which is an autoimmune inflammation of the optic nerve, which has to do with the brain and not so much the eye.
my vision was clouded, and movement of my eye hurt a fair deal and caused short bright flashes like lightening strikes, there was reduced color vision, among other issues with that eye. My color vision hasn't completely returned to normal, there is definitely less saturation, but not noticeable in everyday life, my clarity is pretty much back to where it was before the issue.
It gives me an elevated risk for multiple sclerosis, which various studies cant seem to agree on how much more of a risk I have. I've heard as low as 5% and I've heard as high as 30% chance of developing MS.
My scans came back fine, there were no brain lesions or abnormalities that the neuro-opthamologist and the doctors he consults with made any note of. Though that only means I don't have lesions yet, not particularly a guarantee but supposedly my odds at not developing MS are better without having brain lesions. My family has a history of auto-immune issues. We are kind of collectively a mix of a ton of nasty genetic problems.
But damn I love that picture.
