It's been pretty quiet about Sonic. E3 reveal possible?
« on: April 15, 2015, 11:59:41 am »
So when was the last time a sonic game was revealed at E3? Was it unleashed? I know im kind of jumping the gun here but im kind of wondering if we're getting a sonic game this year. I cant recall everything from the past so it could be that a reveal is closer than I think.

Anyway. Sonic Boom came out last year and sonic team hasnt revealed a project since sonic lost world. With how major console releases have been cut back should we be expecting anything? Seems SEGA has neglected the new gen so far and been doubling down on PC. Im kind of worried. But then again it should be a good game this time so a long dev cycle would be welcoming for a change. What do you guys think.

Sonic Runners was Sonic Team wasn't it?
I know it was the D-Team or whatever, maybe the work experience kid, but still.

Either way, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Sonic announcement this year, maybe E3. I wonder if they would make it cross gen?

One thing is for certain: It'll be bad. Sorry, but you know it will be.

The next Sonic game better be lush. Lost World looked a like paperweight

I would assume it will be before E3, a bit. I don't think SEGA has shown a unveiling at E3 in a long time. There is also a rumored game that lots of GAF PS folks have been talking about, with Sony.

I'm more interested in the rumoured Sony funded game tbh, their exclusives have been pretty high profile lately.

Interesting. With rumored game you mean another SEGA game?

It probably will. This thread aint that much because im interested. Mainly wondering(hoping) if SEGA hasnt jumped ship yet after all that's happened. SEGA west has shrunk a lot and sonic is mainly a western franchise

Sony needs to get back to its roots and build strong developer teams in japan. All the western studios have either been closed or made really average games on ps4 so far imo. For me lately it really feels like a japan renaisance. Theyre putting western studio gmes to shame when it comes to gameplay

Hmm, I don't know. As negative as I am, they still publish Total War, Alien Isolation and Football Manager. PC titles mainly, yes, but still they aren't afraid to back something if it's got a name behind it.

They also wouldn't drop Sonic, even if it's more profitable to make Mobile Apps with him, they need those big mainline games to keep the character relevant.

Fuck that noise, there's no reason to be so pessimistic. If you liked Sonic Colours and Generations (and I did a great deal,) then there's every reason to believe it'll be just as good, hopefully even better.

As for that Sony game... Dare I even say what I wish it was...

Yu Suzuki returns to console development, after top Sega exec Haruki Satomi reported to him a desire to make a digital episodic game and felt that Shenmue was the right way to do it.

We all want it to be that, Sharky :(

As much as we dream though, I don't think it's going to be Jack Lumber 2, sadly.

Probably be something dumb like Shenmue III or Virtua Fighter 6...

I think I'd be more excited if AM2 and Sony teamed up to make a new IP. Maybe even a new IP from Nagoshi would be awesome.

To be honest, I hope Sonic Team's next project is a small one (outside of Runners) and the bigger project is saved for next year, or maybe it's time for another Sumo spin-off game?

I'd like to hear more about this project that SEGA and Sony are working together on.

We'll probably get a new Sonic game this year or early next year. Iizuka already confirmed Sonic is staying on consoles and I'd imagine its PS4/Xbox One and maybe Wii U.
