Sega is in it's 59th year? I thought the copany turned the 55th! That would make it start it 1955 then, but didn't Service Games move to Tokyo in 1951? Confusing, confusing...

Nice....

Very interesting actually..... Also I could not help notice that SEGA  offers 40 yen dividend per share at end fiscal year 2016.
40 yen estimate about 32 cents USD......

So I can technically cash out some of my high yield stocks to invest $25K at current $3.05 ask which would give me about 8196 shares. leave it there and forget about it and the end year I will have an extra $2622 or so just from dividends alone. SEGA being around for the past 59 years actually pretty damn solid..... also not to mention what could happen if VR takes off. Im liking this... also in the video Mr. Iwaki did say that Noah Pass does not rely on SEGA's IP products, so its more broad on many other titles instead of  just one. The expansion of theirexposure if done properly could be phenomenal.... maybe they would jump up to top 3 rank instead of current 6.

Im placing this on my watch list.

So alot of people out there are not interpreting the documents out there correctly (including gameindustry.biz)

Well Sega Sammy released this report recently:
http://www.segasammy.co.jp/english/pdf/release/201603_1q_presentation_e_final_v1.pdf

And I think it should be essential to read for anyone in the game journo business to understand the Sega Sammy group. Especially as it documents the performance of the group past

Also interresting, amount of game software titles from 2005 to 2015:
84 SKU - 2005
122 SKU - 2006
140 SKU - 2007
80 Titles (128 SKU) - 2008
78 Titles (122 SKU) - 2009
66 Titles (105 SKU) - 2010
51 Titles (71 SKU) - 2011
45 Titles (86 SKU) - 2012
25 Titles (49 SKU) - 2013
21 Titles (32 SKU) - 2014
30 Titles (50 SKU) - 2015

Either way, you looking at it - Sega still releases games, a big amount even after the Sammy buyout. So, the whole "lololol Sammy made Sega downsize thing" can stop.

As TA said above SEGA seems to bounce from profit to loss to profit each year. However I believe in the last decade they made more profits than losses so if they can keep that up they'll be fine.

I'm pretty sure they are pouring a lot of money into this whole 'resort/theme park' business venture so I hope that works out for them. The whole technology driven 'indoor theme park' is a cool angle for the company, I'd love to visit some of them.

It's never good to make a loss but the reason they did was because the Pachislot division sold only 102 units instead of the usual 82,000 units in a quarter.

It was expected and they said they'll have the products ready to launch next quarter. They blamed the loss on Sammy rather than SEGA so there's that too.

Sega Sammy speaks favourably of console since a good while

In 2013, sales in the global game content market*1, comprising packaged game software and online game content rose 9.1% year on year, to approximately 6.3 trillion*2. By region, the market recorded growth of 4.0% in Asia (Japan, China, and South Korea) and decreases of 0.4% in the United States and 13.0% in Europe year on year. In China, PC online games spurred growth, while in Japan and South Korea mobile game apps were growth drivers. Consequently, Asia is developing into the world’s largest market. Packaged game software continued on a downward trend. Meanwhile, online game content expanded to 4.6 trillion, accounting for approximately 70% of the game content market. Due to the spread of such digital devices as smartphones and tablets, game software’s shift towards digital downloads is becoming a worldwide trend.
As for packaged game software, with popularity concentrating on certain well-known titles, major publishers’ oligopoly continued to strengthen. However, the market for packaged game software for home video game consoles is showing signs of recovery. These include favorable sales in Europe and North America of new-generation home video game consoles equipped with capabilities for digital downloads, content micropayments, social game features such as live video of gameplay action, and cloud gaming services.

I  would have to disagree @team andromeda when looking at shareholder standpoint, THIS IS INSANITY FOR SGAMY TO BE WORTH THIS MUCH AND OVERLOOKED BY PUBLIC TO NOT EVEN NOTICE http://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/SGAMY/profile here's why.

SGAMY Market Cap is $3,098,911,101 ($3 billion dollars worth) with 266,229,476 O/S (Outstanding Shares) but their current stock price per share right now is at $2.97 per share. The formula MC = N x P  when done accordingly, their stock should be at least $11 per share.
For them to be around for 59 years through all the ups and down and to get their MC that high even if as an estimate, the stock should be level or at par to match their stated Market Cap of $3B which means the true actual amount is around $11 per share. SGAMY may very well have something big in the works.

You can see for yourself if you check out other stocks Market Cap.

Thats fine... but I can guarantee you'll like the "profits" when you took lets say something like $200 and bought SEGA stocks and forgot about it and then checked up on it in like 3 years or so.
Theres a SGAMY stock board you should check out, ANYONE can do this...,. and you wont need millions or hundreds or thousands of dollars, you can do this with couple hundred maybe even less roughly about 5 brand new games or something lol.
But each their own, Im a gamer and play stocks too.

If you've wasted money before, no big difference with stocks, but the odds are youll make and get money back.
Some cases, quite A LOT coming back.

You said it. I picked up a bunch of Take 2 stock when it was selling for $8 a share, knowing that GTA V would be coming out within a year or so. Now look at it.

Now just imagine if I had had $500,000 at hand to lay on that stock. And you can easily see why working hard to get rich is not really the way it works in capitalism! All you need is money, to make insanely greater amounts of money... for absolutely no effort other than being observant, taking educated risks, and having some backbone not to freak out when a stock goes through some ups and downs. And Take 2 is one volatile stock. But they're selling fake money in that game, for real money. So it was a sureshot.
