I agree, faster paced for sure and more exciting (IMO) than Binary Domain. But I would try both.

Both are great, Vanquish is better.

Vanquish has better gameplay.

Binary Domain has better everything else.

I prefer Binary Domain,  disliked the low level of health Vanquish offered. You'd ought to enjoy both though considering popular opinion.

Do you like Gears? If that's the case Binary Domain is closer to it, Vanquish is like a Sonic the Hedgehog powered shooter were you'll blitz through stages.

Binary Domain grows on you, and you'll likely enjoy interacting with your party.  Vanquish is an arcade game in a modern shooter shell.  It was the first game I got for my PS3 and also one of the few games that remind me keep an eye on the genre overall.

Vanquish is a Treasure game but in 3d.  BD is a poor man's Gears of War.  The choice is clear.

So the Yakuza team are working on a new game?

I think we all know what this means.

This is the best Team with-in SEGA , can only hope they are working on a high end AAA action game that's either sequel to BD or a new IP that will build on the brilliant work they did with BD

Binary Domain was a really ambitious game, plenty of awesome ideas and gameplay... But marred by a really generic art style, including the cover art... Which I think put a lot of people off.

The art direction was the same as Yakuza though, guess you could say the armour of the characters looked generic but it is armour.

Personally think the game should have starred Cain though, we need more positive robot role models for our future robot overlords.

It wasn't just the art direction that was bland.  The entire concept of sentient killer robots is incredibly tired and the gameplay, while solid, was very basic and typical of the genre.  While Vanquish injected a much needed burst of energy with its sliding movement gimmick, BD played things very very conservatively.  It felt too much like a Japanese dev trying desperately to appeal to the West more than a game driven by vision or fun ideas. The twists in the narrative were also very disappointing,
with even the big bad US government making a grab for power at the end.
I did very much enjoy Cain though.  He was the best character by far.

So I finally played Vanquish after having it sealed for over 4 years and... It's fucken awesome. Why I took me this long to play it is beyond me.
