I gotta say, the rhetoric you use when talking about your fandom comes off as a bit over the top creepy. Like its the 1100s and were in the midst of the crusades. :P

Thanks, I think.(Chuckles)*

There's alot veteran, hardcore SEGA fans of us with that belief and ideology.

The fact that SEGA is now both acknowledging and discussing their past and keeps alluding to what they were in the 90s, and in the interview stated that they hope they're able have  the support of its older fans and customers speaks volumes. We believe Sega will come out of retirement someday once the conditions become favorable. They're taking the first several proper steps with Sega Holdings,Expanding their global Arcade business,Being more laser focused on Mobile and PC, and admitting that its older IPs are an extremely tough sell to today's console gaming generation.

Not to mention the WIPO documents they've just recently filed that now pertain and describe Arcade Accessories, Parts & Fittings as well as Home Consumer Research & Development. ;)

In my idiotic opinion, Sega have managed to successful survive as a company after a huge belly flop out of console market. Its been rocky, but they've done it. With that kind of resilience, I see no reason why they can't get back to what they once were. Maybe not as a console maker (not sure it's even needed right now), but as a force.

Sega staff always talked about the past in Japanese interviews. Its just Japanese magazine exclusive. Its nothing new.

There is a console look back interview with Hideki Sato and Hideki Okamura that is waiting to be translated by shmuplations. In the end there is always the sentimental PR..."will we return to hardware? we cant say yes or no, but we will contunie to be an entertainment company and go on the Sega way etc."

Actually, when they were Sega Corporation,Inc all SEGA executives and advisors mentioned in Japanese magazine interviews was that they were excited about the future of the group and about the "new IPs" and consumer gaming business. When they referred to their past as Sega Enterprises,Ltd they'd use heavily vague terms, references, and context. Trust me, I've read my share of SegaSammy IRs and CSR Reports over the past 7 years.

They've never alluded to their past as specific and subtle as they have this year. Nor have they acknowledged the older, veteran fans. Us who actually desire SEGA to make another home consumer product. A console that's stand alone, unique  and doesn't complete against PlayStation or Xbox.

The fact that they are FINALLY acknowledging us makes us very pleased and excited.

Don't wet the bed just yet, Sega isn't bringing a console out anytime soon.

Considering the current situation with consoles now, SEGA entering the console business would be a terrible idea.

Yup. Can't see why or there being much of a market for it. As I said earlier, maybe one day if one of the others back away, but for now, they should just focus on being a great company.

No, it wouldn't. Console Gamers aren't the only people who buy home consumer products, you know?Remember Wii and Atari 2600?

@Crackdude. Not until 3 things happen: Sega Interactive Co.,Ltd is established as SEGA's core division. Sega Holdings,Ltd FINALLY opens for public trading.(It took CSK Enterprises 2 years to do so from the time they were established in 1983) and SegaSammy sells off its remaining capital of $3.5 billion to Toshiba Corporation and as a result,Toshiba becomes SEGA's new Parent Company.

That's when Sega will release another home game device.
