Today Sega announced its financial results for the first nine months of the fiscal year related to the period between April and December 2022.
According to the press release, net sales were 271,979 million yen, up 14.9% year-on-year. Operating income was 38,222 million yen, up 17.0% year-on-year.
Speaking of the Entertainment contents Segment of the business, which includes video games, net sales were 210,451 million yen, up 18.3% year-on-year.
Ordinary income was 41,581 million yen, up 12.8% year-on-year.

Bayonetta 3 Surpasses 1.04 Million Copies Sold

In the Q3 FY 2023 financial earnings report, Nintendo has finally announced how many copies Bayonetta 3 has sold!
The title has sold over 1 million copies since it launched on October 28, 2022.
This is a bit lower than most were probably expecting, however, it has already matched the numbers of Bayonetta 2 on Nintendo Switch, with that title selling through 1.04 million copies in its lifetime.

Total War: Warhammer 3 is PC Gamer's favourite strategy game of the year (2022) 🏆

With the addition of its trilogy-spanning Immortal Empires campaign, Total War: Warhammer 3 is now so big it scares me.
I've spent all year playing this game, but I've barely scratched the surface of its characters, campaigns, and roleplay possibilities.
In simple terms, Immortal Empires is a stew pot into which Creative Assembly has tipped every delicious morsel of content from the past six years of Total War: Warhammer, cooking up a campaign quite unlike anything ever made.
And the most terrifying part is that this is just the beginning.
Now the trilogy has reached its final form, CA effectively has a blank cheque.

Sonic Frontiers is still in the U.S. top 20 best selling titles

Despite a November 2022 launch, Sonic Frontiers stuck around in the U.S. top 20 best selling titles going into 2023.
According to regional numbers from @npdgroup, the open-zone game finished 12th in January following last month's ranking at 6th, and a 4th debut.

Sega says Sonic Frontiers sales ‘greatly exceeded’ its expectations

“The number of units sold greatly exceeded the full-year plan at the beginning of the fiscal year, and we recognise that this is a title that we will continue to sell over the long term based on our sales strategies, such as pricing, promotions and the development of free DLC.”

When asked to evaluate the quality of Sonic Frontiers based on critic and player reaction, one exec replied: “Although it is true that the Metascore was slightly lower than expected, we believe that we were able to release a title that has been well received by many people around the world, thanks to the extremely high ratings from users.
