I dunno what's sad... that Sonic lost to a gacha game... or how the Sonic fans took it.

Is it true Genshin Impact cheated with bots?

Actually both sides on Round 3 use bots to cheat so although it's not much, both aren't playing fair.
With fandoms as big as those two, it's unavoidable to have few jerks who ruined the fun.
Still if we are only talking about a game that really released in 2022 and not including ongoing games (like Genshin Impact and Minecraft), Sonic is definitely the winner, so most of Sonic fans are kinda cool with that,

Also funny that thanks to GI vs Sonic fandom wars and "Bill Clinton" incident,
TGA that was only a marketing tools somehow now transformed itself into something bigger .... a meme material.

The thing is, Sonic franchise was never taken that seriously in the video game industry ever since 2006 for obvious reasons. I can't recall the last time it won a major award, if ever. So us Sonic fans know what it's like to be the "butt of the joke" when it comes to video game fandoms.

Then we have these Sonic fan twats who think that because Sonic Frontiers made it to Player's Voice finals makes them hot shit and go about making Genshin fans feel like cold shit. That these Sonic fans treat the Genshin fans with ridicule just as we Sonic fans were treated the first decade after 2006.

And now, I fear people would find the Sonic fandom as toxic sore losers given the fact they pretty much "encourage" Genshin Impact to win. And me, who is an adamant Sonic fan but watched all the cutscenes and major dialogue of GoW:R think Ragnarok should of won.

Sonic fandom is always toxic. Praise one Sonic game on Sonic Facebook group and you'll be attacked by haters.
Genshin fandom is toxic as well. Praise one character on GI Facebook group and you'll be attackedby haters.
So it's not surprising to see how it goes what's happened when two toxic fandoms clash.

It's okay if you think GOW is the one that's deserved but not for me.
The graphic's cool but I find the gameplay's boring and the story didn't click for me as Persona or Final Fantasy games.
As for me, the 2022 GOTY should have gone to Total War Warhammer 3.

The game is so deep, rich, and such a big jump from its prequels.
Even Henry Cavill said so and invest lot more than four hours a day to play them.
So I guess the downside it's just too time consuming to play, if only I was still in college I could invest my time on it.

The fact that Total War Warhammer 3 wasn't nominated (other than strategy games category) means that I can't take TGA more than popularity contest.
None of jury seems ever played PC games.
TGA is just a marketing tool after all, just like Academy Award and Grammy Award.

TGA still seem to be somewhat influential though given I never seen Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact so much talked about before.
