One of my best friends from highschool is moving away to British Columbia at the end of August. He lives in Sudbury right now (about a 3 hour drive away), so we don't get to hang out all that much as is. We decided to get a camping trip together for this past weekend, and headed out to a provincial park on Lake Superior with our girlfriends.
The weather was awesome, and the water was actually warm enough to swim as long as you'd want to (pretty uncommon for Lake Superior). I kayaked for the first time in my life, and we all had a great time swimming, hiking, cooking by the campfire, and just hanging out.
The waves were pretty wild on Saturday night, and we had a ton of fun with those. A big thunderstorm kicked in right around sunset that night. The sound of the rain on the tents was great to fall asleep to after a hot day packed with activity (not to mention, my friend proposing to his now-fiance).
After packing everything up, we had an epic water baloon fight before heading back to town.
I'm hoping to head down to Sudbury for a few days next month for one more visit before they head out west.
